    My dream system

Here it is, no need to swap anything out, I'll take it as is.

It's all about the midrange for me and this system delivers on that.

Two very different schools and approaches to sound but definitely two world class systems to choose from. For that kind of money, the old school Living Voice with the gorgeous wood veneers wins it in my book but no doubt the modern MBL would be the choice for many others.

Have you had a chance to hear either?

    Re: My dream system

I've heard MBL setup on a few occasions. I've always liked MBL electronics, the speakers I thought were good but the presentation was a bit weird to me. I have not heard the reference MBL speakers though. There was a time, probably 10 or more years ago when MBL was being blown out and I think it had to do with the distributor?
I recall seeing the amps and preamps on A'gon for a fraction of the price... Should have picked some up for myself then!

Have not heard the Living Voice in person. I'd be surprised if there was even one pair of the LV VOX Olympians in the US of A. The few videos on youtube is enough for me to hear the gorgeous midrange of the horn loaded Olympians. I bet very few speakers can sound that pure.

    Re: My dream system

I’ve heard both - Xtremes extensively obviously! I was expecting more from the LV to be honest. I may take Trio XD’s with a full bass horn stack to be honest.

When we can travel again safely, you should join us on the trip to Munich. It’s legendary.

Looking forward to that normalcy again Mike. The day will come. These things typically last up to two years and go away. Munich would definitely be a great show to attend. Here is the VOX Olympian setup in Munich. It's almost like being there.... Living Voice Vox Olympian, Vox Elysian, Kondo amplifiers, Highend Munich - YouTube

Seemed to be a nice playing system, and liked how it was demoed using a battery bank which brings some curiosity.

So you are talking about ugly horn speakers playing very well in video... (*)
So, closing the eyes, these are the ones that make me dream about.

But, when i think about a dream system that would force me to keep my eyes open, i think of these. I listen this video below several times. The power and dynamic is absolutely unbelievable

(*) I believe a good camera can give us a good idea of the sound. The camera don´t add anything. Let´s say if you listen a good bass or a good treble it must be there. Of course you need to hear live to check the stage, tonal balance and other properties.

Both of those Aries videos I picked up on the rather typical horn "shoutiness" as the music swells/crescendos... They are very good but not perfect in that regard. The MBL X-treme is hard to fault, I agree

From what i ear in this video, (if it is not fake), this could easily be my dream system.

Perfect8 Loudspeakers, Perfect8 The Force, Walker Audio, VAC amplifiers - YouTube

Perfect8 The Force with VAC. Ignore the poor video sound. This combo was absolutely the best sounding system I ever heard. I spent a lot of time listening to it over several evenings one year at T.H.E. Show Las Vegas. They played the system after hours and I was staying at the same hotel. It was like I rented it for a few hours. Or at least I pretended it was mine.
