I was reading TAS Issue 306. Analog Focus - SME Model 12A by Paul Seydor. On page 49 Paul says "short of mastertapes, there is no way one can with absolute certainty pronounce one component truer to the source than another. But thanks to DSD........ you can come pretty close".

He finishes this paragraph with "so beautiful as the analog transfer is, I prefer the DSD file".

Would it be an accurate interpretation to arrive at, digital is better than analog. Or am I taking the part out of context and as so many exalt, vinyl is better than digital. Why is a vinyl reviewer even saying, if you don't have a master tape, you can use DSD or carefully implemented PCM to measure true to source. Is digital the only way outside tape to really get true to source playback.
