Re: luxman R404 vs sansui 771
If the Lux is in good condition it is certainly worth $50.00. I had one of their vintage receivers, it was very clean sounding but lacked a bit of energy in the bottom end. The vintage Sansui is good stuff, I had one of their integrated amps and I was really impressed with the sound. I haven't heard the upper end receivers, one of their entry receivers I had from the 70's sounded good but in a warm way, sort of like McIntosh if familiar. Not saying it's on par, just leans that warm pleasing sound. The integratd was quite different with a more neutral detailed presentation.
Uness you justwanted old, vintage, gear, and, you had $200.00 or more, I'd look for a more modern integrated. Brands like NAD or Cambridge Audio offer some pretty good performance on a budget. Onkyo or Yamaha have stereo receivers but I don't know prices.Aurender ACS10 w/AQ Diamond,
