Just got some new grounding gear to try....

Looking forward to trying this new stuff out!

The Puritan PSM156 power conditioner I have is noticeably better than the AudioQuest I was using.

I also have the Puritan Labs Conditioner with the city grounding device. I am looking to learn more about grounding via the route master. Please post some thoughts or observations.

Hi Michael, don’t want to push you under pressure but I’d like to know your thoughts about City + Puritan, having the Puritan in my system and the City coming soon.
TIA

Hello!

I like it. You'll need to experiment whether the chassis ground or line level ground works better for you.

I'm about to try to see how it sounds if I do chassis ground to my Telegartner switch vs. the line level on the other gear.

I think Puritan products are very good. I think it will depend on how dirty your electricity is as to how much difference it may make.

So how does it function?
How is it connected?

The plug unit goes into the wall and then you plug a cable into the green screw end of the plugged city unit and then into the grounding box itself.

They call it the city unit as it is designed for people who more likely live in the city and are unable to plant a grounding rod to hook up to.

Very easy to set up and use.

I don't understand this point. Plant a grounding rod? Every home should already have a grounding rod. Planting a 2nd grounding rod would not be compliant with the electrical code, right?

Which electrical code (in what country, state, county and city) are you referring to? There is no national electrical code in the US.

Of course there is a National Electrical code. Otherwise you'd have electricians wiring buildings any which way they wanted to.

Jeesh. What I'm saying is that there are INDIVIDUAL codes that are dictated at the state, county and city level. Also, do you really think someone living in an apartment in the city has access to a grounding rod?

There should only be one grounding rod in an electrical installation. The Earth on every power point is connected to that, whether in an apartment or house or whatever. Although I do realize many older homes in the US are wired with active/neutral wires only and no earth.

The NEC

It depends on what state and if that state adopted the National Electrical Code® (NEC)

In my state: The Florida Builidng Code adoptes NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code for electrical requirements in chapter 27 of the Florida Building Code, Building and NFPA 70A, The National Electrical Code Requierements for One and TwoFamily Dwellings, in Chapter 33 of he Florida Building Code, Residential.

What does a 'ground rod' have to do with it?
The connection to Planet Earth is for safety during unusual voltage situations.
It has almost nothing to so with day-to-day AC power quality.

If you go to their web site it will explain their different models and why we talked about a grounding rod.
