Parrothead since the 70s. I live in Mobile, and was friends with a gentleman who grew up and went to early schooling with him. Many of the religious based songs come from that catholic school. My friend helped him carry the phone booth to the end of the pier for that LP jacket image.

A huge fan, I managed to see him three times in concert. His melodies and poetry will always be part of my soul.

RIP. I did a road trip in college and saw him 11 times one summer. Kept seeing him almost every year since. Can't believe he's gone so young.

Need to fire up the blender for some boat drinks.

He will definitely leave a void…..RIP to a music hero!

Remember living in St Thomas and trying to live the lifestyle he sang about back in the late 70’s, quickly realized I couldn’t sustain it! I still to this day love his music from those days!!

Re: Jimmy Buffett Passes Away at 76

I first saw Jimmy as a duo with Fingers Taylor in Oct '74. He was in the middle of a 6 night gig at the LA Troubadour and the two of them took a break and went down to La Jolla and played (no amplifiers, mics or any augmentation) on the UCSD quad at lunch. Free.

I did the same thing, but moved to St. Croix. I lasted a year before heading back to FL.
