    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

"in what direction are you going to steer the industry?"

New face, new topics that at times will ruffle feathers but that must be talked about as long as I'm not being dishonest about my findings.
I don't get behind my camera to put out false information. I believe in calling my trusted sources in order to validate what I'm being told before I share it with you all.
Wouldn't you want transparency? Wouldn't you want for things to be out in the open that before were hidden under the mattress?
Why can one (if not) the greatest bodybuilder of all time (Arnold) admit to steroid usage just a few years ago and share this with the younger generations in order to let them know you that can't build a body like his by only drinking protein shakes? I think it is AWESOME to be transparent and not have to lie to people.
Deception needs to stop. The food industry is getting hammered constantly by the FDA for false claims within their labels. Supplement companies are constantly being stepped on for swearing their products are the cleanest and purest only to later find out they are filled with fillers...
Folks, the audio industry is the only one I know of where if you speak, you build enemies. If you all don't want change, then fine - don't support the cause and keep getting "stepped on" (just don't act stupid later on and say "oh I didn't know this product had this issue or that issue, etc etc")

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

I read it. It's all good. Those who want to keep following me will continue to do so no matter what.
When there is nobody doing the shootouts and sharing what I share by owning the ultra high end, there aren't many other choices because the other choices are essentially about the "average" products that everyone constantly reviews and regurgitates.
My channel is almost a "niche" and won't appeal to the masses because the masses don't own mágico M6 and Wilson Xlf in a period of under 12 months let alone the msb reference with DCs Rossini, wilson daw with focal scala evo.
You wanna know WHY ? BECAUSE IT IS A HELL OF ALOT OF WORK! .
If I had started my channel reviewing boom boxes, I would have over 50k subscribers by now. The ultra high end are typically owners who don't want to do all the work i do. To them, it's tedious and bothersome to have to record, edit, upload and for what?
That is the main reason why I am sailing in waters all alone .

Trying to figure out how to post something that says the subject matter is good, let's not get personal, let's not get physical, without adding fuel to flames on anyone's side. Decided that my post didn't accomplish that...

I have spent millions on gear in the last 20+ years. This is an incredibly true statement. We all know that this hobby is incredibly subjective, but at the end of the day an incredibly well functioning, operating and sounding system is evident to all once experienced. Many fall short in one way or another... those operational issues or faults should be shared... I shouldn't have to spend my own money and get it home just to find out that these issues exist. This has happened to me quite a few times. If you speak out negatively and publicly, all hell breaks loose within your contacts and relationships.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

I like Jay's channel. I learn a lot, and believe in his experience and ear. Pretty sure that the phrase Caveat Emptor was not invented yesterday, though. We all have to weigh subjective reports with conflict of interest in many different areas of life.
I enjoy Jay's channel as educational, not as a battle. I would suggest trying to accumulate subscribers, not followers.
I have enough battles at work. I've been spending the majority of my time in ICU's keeping COVID patients alive, or trying to convince family members to allow those that have no chance to slip away. I enjoy listening to the channel on my commute. We all have to decide what is truly a battle.
I feel that staying above the fray here, and focusing on content, will allow Jay to rise to immortality.
I think that's enough for me here, and I am going to stop frequenting this thread. I'll just check the channel and listen for updates.

Unfortunately, the web is filled with self proclaimed experts on the backs of others actual experiences or statements. Most of whom could never afford or actually pursue the purchase of the $10, $20 or $50K components that they want to hear all the dirt about. I'm glad that Jay is around to share his opinions and experiences, you simply have to sift through what is simply subjective opinion or factual information. But I'm not about to get on that boat with people I don't know and risk burning my bridges. If I feel that a component is a comparatively excellent component then I'm happy to share that, the rest Ill stay quiet on, unless I was personally burnt somehow like I did a while ago with Focal.

So why would you get in anyone's "boat". The only proper way to choose audio equipment is to audition it for yourself. It is easy to cull through the chaff by visiting dealers before trying A/B ing it in your own room. Only large speakers and possibly a amp or two are the exception.

How a component sounds (in that specific chain of equipment) is just one aspect of the experience and use. The user interface, the physical operation, the setup, the communication between components, all vary greatly and can be implemented differently. One size does not fit all and its all part of the experience and use.

No, I do not audition equipment at my local Dealer, as 9/10 Dealers here do not have the level of equipment I purchase on a regular basis on their floor. And If they do, I certainly wont pay retail so I wouldn't bother them to begin with. I'm hoping I answered whatever question you were asking me.

But we're getting a bit off topic here. How I purchase or select my equipment is of no relevance or concern to anyone.

To a certain point I was agreeing with your point in post #761 that the web and its so called experts is not a place I use to determine what products to purchase.

Can you ask the Krell COO to hire somebody to answer their support email because I've been waiting 1+ month for them not to answer my support question. Seriously, I can't see myself buying another Krell product. I've waited years for some support issues not to be dealt with. Krell support is rubbish.

Jay, good luck in 2022. your channel is definitely different--in a good way--the passion speaks for itself. I can hear the collective guffaw of audio snobs and audio elites that look down at your YouTube space (eff them!)...it ain't easy to build a subscriber base as you know. Mikey makes good points, I'm looking forward to your honest assessment of his system or his version of "reality."

I will be releasing my personal tidal playlist this week. Within this playlist, you will find about 73 songs which will provide you with over 5 hours and 40 min worth of music.

This playlist will keep getting updated by me so all you need to do is add it to your favorites. I really hope that dealers and manufacturers also save this playlist so that they can use it next time they are displaying their product at a show.

These songs are handpicked by me and have at least one (if not more ) of the following traits:

Big soundstage with depth and height
    Clarity
    Deep bass
    Intense imaging
    Big bold vocals
    High resolution

Use this playlist to evaluate your own system too!

    Alright guys,

I am going to give away my Audioquest NRG outlet. the MSRP on this unit is $179 dollars. What needs to happen?

We need to hit 8k subscribers (so i encourage you all to spread this on the multiple sites you frequent and encourage for others to subscribe). As soon as we hit 8k subscribers, you will email me at jayaudiolab@gmail. The 12th email i receive will be the winner.

The accusation from Joe was that Jay just plopped the center stage feet and immediately gave a review of them before they had adequate time to settle. In the thread you cited on the World Boxing Federation, Wil said that Jay had the footers in for months. Jay should chime in here because Joe doesn't believe that is the truth.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

    Guys
The footers simply did not work for me and my system. I don't have to agree or disagree with others. I'm simply presenting my own findings. I was very clear on the video itself that this might be different in a different system. I didn't say what I say is what goes. I personally think they didn't work for me with my boulder 2150s. My $600k rig simply didn't like it. If others love it then that's awesome 👍. My rig, my ears, my room, etc told me it wasn't a positive outcome so I ended up removing them.
Also, this was for the 1.5 footers. I don't have any feedback on anything else. Maybe the 2.0 footers work better?
I'm open to evaluating them with my Mephisto solos or MSB DAC or even my Soulution 725 if they are open to it.

I have personally found the CMS feet work best under digital devices like DAC’s, Streamers and under phonostages and preamps and the like. I also like them under tube equipment (including amps). I would love to try some more in my home system. I have them under the NAIM phonostages now and wow! Love it.

    I’ve had a similar experience to Mike’s.

I installed four new 1.5-inch tall Critical Mass Systems CenterStage2 footers (they also come in 0.8” and 1.0” heights) between my Taiko Extreme server and two Taiko Daiza platforms.

Unlike the documented extended break-in period experienced by others, I started hearing significant positive improvements in the reduction of the noise floor and enhanced musical engagement after a few hours the first day. And those improvements, although now more incremental, continue to amaze me even now, several months later.

I find myself routinely listening to complete album files now, fully engaged in all varieties of musical genres. The musical engagement is that good.

I haven’t tried the footers on any other equipment, but plan to order more of them to try under different pieces. We shall see.

Of course, just another data point and YMMV.

Footers have to "settle in"?? Seems like a new high/low in audio voodoo.

I guess it´s not the footers. It´s the gear. When you move it to change the footers you need a time to have everything back in order...

I've never denied that the footers add to the presentation. There is definitely a difference, but to my ears it was information that just didn't belong there. The naturalness, the organic and natural warmth of the music is removed and hyper detail is injected.
Boulder 2150s went from being an x-ray machine with the natural colors seen on an x-ray to now being an MRI machine that digs deeper into your body allowing you to see more tissue, bones tendons, etc. The issue is i only came to get an x-ray of my arm because I think it's broken...x-ray machine is sufficient to tell you exactly that.
The best electronics out there don't need seasoning. Sometimes less is MORE but unfortunately we are guilty of thinking that when the sound changes to something different then it must be better and guess what my friends? This is the reason why we keep chasing our tail... The reason why more product is being released so we can all keep chasing the next great thing when in reality you probably already have it RIGHT NOW in your room .
This is just my opinion folks.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

I’m not familiar with your channel Jay but after sifting through this thread I’ll be checking you out today for sure.

Anyone willing to swim upstream of all the marketing hype and latest-greatest-mine's-the-best-ever and exert their right to call it as they see it, hell or high water, I’m down to sub.

Others have already said, there’s more to a great system than just how expensive or unusual it is, how technologically different it is, how big or heavy it is, the legendary name on the faceplate or the unobtanium it’s made from. There’s just the best system for you. Many things go into that, some more important to one person than the next.

So what’s important to me in reviews is someone willing to say the positive and the negative and keep it all in context (your ears, your room, your biases). Not hyperbole and the emperor’s new clothes. Cause everyone’s got something to sell, and we don’t need more of that.

Probably true. And I say probably only because I don't have "direct" contact with high end material.
But that's because at this level, the brands are concerned with the feet and support bases, exactly because they know the impact they can have in the sound.
