I think we can rule out the M9 :-0

Sounds like the precision of the M series wasn't Jay's cup of tea.

Definitely. The M9s are like 80” in height. Jay’s Room isn’t high enough to do justice to them.

Jay has owned in succession Wilson, Magico. The “big 3” US speaker manufacturer also includes YG. It would make sense to try YG next. Sonja XV? Jr? Or Sonja 2.3?

I'm a YG owner (Carmel 2) and fan of the brand.

So, I'm a little biased but, honestly, I feel that If Jay didn't like the Magico M then YG would be very similar in "character" to the Magico

Both brands design goals are to play what is on the recording and what is in front of them.

    Very neutral etc.

However, with some of YG's propetiarty techonolgy (specifically Dual Coherent crossover) that no other brand has regardless of cost.

This has been further refined with the Sonja 2i series.

The listening experience is unique. Meaning they sound so complete and coherent.

The Big XVs with 4 tower sounds like a point source.

Although it was the most expensive system I've heard. However, it was also the most impressive and transcedent.

Sonja XV powered by 4 Audionet Heisenberg monos , Stern linestage and Kronos Pro source.

The US distributor of Audionet is also one of if not the largest YG dealer in North America.

I hope Jay tries YG but, I'm guessing another brand, given his experience with the Magico M6.

He needs to buy what fits sonically with his room and what he can readily sell used without getting hurt.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

I think proper room treatment and ACTUALLY letting speakers break in before moving on to the next speakers would allow Jay or anyone else to find a speaker that fits your room and makes you happy for 1-5 years till the audio itch begins again. Jay appears to love to get them, provide video session content , and then get them out for next set of speakers for more video content. I can remember going to Blink Audio years ago in Boston and heard Raidho speakers for 2 hours and they sounded lovely. Then I had the dealer move the speakers to the size of my 8 foot by 8 ft listening triangle which mimicked my listening room and rear of speakers went from 7 ft to 3 ft away from rear wall as that is the most distance I could provide in my listening room. Well all the 3D holographic magic totally disappeared and I know these speakers would never work in my space even with my extensive room treatment. I agree YG very unlikely to provide bliss if M6 did not. Good luck Jay and maybe 200-500 hours of breakin before video and listening session may make your journey more likely to succeed.

The Magicos need at least 500 hours to start blooming. If you think you can just throw these in and push play, these are the wrong speakers for you.
Jay has a lot to learn, the concept may work, but switching gear so quickly, in an untreated small clutter room, with bad power scheme (all untreated power is bad) is not conducive here. Although you can hear differences in the videos, I would be hard-pressed to tell what is what.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

I think people are assuming that the M6 didn't have enough hours which is incorrect. They did have enough break in time. Also, my electronics are running almost 24/7 and usually play music throughout the night every single day.
However, why do I sense that some are questioning my practices but are clearly assuming a ton?
I went on record ON VIDEO blaming myself for putting a speaker like M6 in a room that clearly wasn't as prepared as the speaker needed.
What else can I do other than say that on video? Unless of course, the ones who are making these statements don't watch my videos. I urge them to subscribe and watch my videos BEFORE they assume things here. Maybe i already addressed things and you just haven't watched my videos so you assume things...
Yes, the M6 did have over 500 hours.

Wonder what the results would have been with the others if you made the same effort to optimize the room as you did with the M6 ..

The listening room where I spent two days auditioning the M6’s had so many Tube Traps that it looked like the Parthenon in Greece. However, the M6’s sounded magnificent in that room. Maybe that’s what is needed.

A well-treated good listening room is entirely different than that "audio chamber in Canada," which is an anechoic chamber (I assumed you are referring to the anechoic chamber at Canada NRC, which stands for National Research Council).

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

i want to, but i want for many to keep thinking and guessing. The reason why? because i want for people to simply like or dislike the sound for what it is and not because of the brand name.
I think there is crowd of people that listen with their eyes instead of their ears. They tend to choose the product based on the brand name in front of them rather than what their ears are telling them. I want for people to be confused and shocked once they learn what it is because if they liked it and if it is a brand they typically dont go for, guess what? it will change their perception and that is what is important.

From the teasers, my first guess is Avantgarde. But then again, Mike said he doesn’t know.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

Jay, can you do a Teaser or Video with the track Amos Moses by Primus so we can hear what all these high dollar speakers can do? A couple piano notes with a single vocalist (most demos these days everywhere) really does not show what a Speaker or System can really do. Some of us listen to Multi Instrument, Multi Layered music as a Norm and most demos don't do much for my crowd.

    Thanks for considering it!

If Mike knows, he would be obligated to say he doesn't know, or none of this would work. Sooooo, I think that keeps the field pretty wide open.

Whatever it is, it didn’t come from me, but then again, neither did the M6’s....so, who knows?

It would be a surprise to me because I did not detect -in the videos- the typical "halo" around the voice that come from horns speakers (and from what i heard until today, not even Avantgard escapes)

    I agree.
I think a lot of audiophiles should do this exercise.
The conclusion can be terrible: many things in the audio are not worth what they cost!

Awesome guys. Just keep enjoying the teasers ovee the next few days. I have at least 2 more teasers before i am front and center unveiling what most of you have been giving positive comments about.
I know there are still a few people out there that don't want to comment just in case it happens to be a brand they hate and they make to mistake of saying they like what they are hearing without knowing what this is. It happens!

At this rate you are likely to start losing audiophile subscribers.
First, you are now conducting and subjecting audiophile folks to a blind test (some without realizing it!). Most audiophiles don’t ever want to get near blind tests afraid of looking foolish. I can already imagine the responses of some folks: “You can’t tell anything via YouTube, they barely stream at 256kbps”; “I’m sure that I would have been able to tell when using MY system”, etc. Anyway, sounds like you are having fun and that is what counts. Good luck with your audio journey!

Too me it’s sounding like a Focal but Jay already had the Stellas. Only the Grand left and it’s like 20 feet tall.
