    Interesting Dining Entertainment

My wife and I went to a German Restaurant in Lake Ariel, Poconos on Sunday night as continuation of our 37th Anniversary while at the cabin. We knew there was something but whoever answered the phone was unsure. When we walked in we heard what sounded like a small acoustic group playing thru all the speakers in the place. When we looked further, there was one guy walking around talking to all the diners playing a Purple Heart Chapman Stick. The guy was incredible and had so many songs in his bag. He also carried on full conversations with every table and never missed a note and rarely even looked at what he was doing. When he got to our table, the only Stick song I could think of was Elephant Talk by King Crimson - Tony Levin. I thought for sure this would stump him but he started playing the intro only to stop and smile and say that was all he knew. He asked what our Wedding Song was but Europa by Santana did stump him so he played another Santana song. It was some of the best table-side entertainment I can remember.

Congrats on 37 years! Sounds like you had a great time.

Me personally, I can't stand it when something like that happens, or the manager comes around and tries to strike up a conversation. When I go out to eat with my "other half" or with family, I want to eat, and converse with who I'm with, not some stranger that's just wondering around, table to table. I find it quite annoying. Then again, so does my family.

Everyone is different. If the guy wasn't playing a very cool instrument that I like, it may have been different. He played 4 songs we asked for and more in place of ones he didn't know. It was actually refreshing and fun. We took the pics as soon as our food came and he moved on to let us eat in peace.

What a great experience! We have a local Chapman Stick player, David Tipton. He plays at a lot of restaurants, breweries and wineries around the Salida area. It's always a fun evening.
