    B&O BeoLab 50

This abortion of a speaker was reviewed this month by HiFi News, receiving a well deserved lowest grade they have ever given.

This speaker was at RMAF this year and would have even driven a heard of cats from the room. I️ couldn’t believe a couple of people thought it sounded good. I️ remember the woman running the room kept turning it up, as if making bad sound louder was going to help. The only time it was worse was at Axpona when it debuted. My ears still hurt.

    Re: B&O BeoLab 50

They seem to go out of the way to design Ugly Speakers instead of putting all the resources into the sound. The $90K - 90s are even more awful looking.

Don't think B&O's stuff is ugly (subjective for sure), but surprised about the review, since the 50 is active and has room compensation, and B&O is not new at this.

Didn't the 90s get some good reviews?

For the right room, I kind of like the looks. Haven’t heard them though. Overall, I place value in B&O’s continued attention to design (even if many think they whiffed on this one). There shouldn’t be any question about the sound though at those prices and with the features noted above.

I believe the 90s did get a positive review. They showed (sounded) poorly at Axpona this year.

Might just be me, but I think these look quite nice, unlike the hideous 90s

Have not heard....but would want complex dsp/controls in my hand to judge sound, not some knuckle head at a show

I also heard these at RMAF 2017. The demo was done at ear bleeding levels. It had a very un-audiophile kind of sound. Forward. Aggressive. Harsh. Since it had active room correction, the bass was actually pretty good, where it was a problem for most of the demos I heard in the standard hotel rooms. It was not the worst sound I heard at the show.

Not sure who their target audience is. This is the most un-audiophile product I've seen. Wireless connectivity only. No ability to tweak interconnects, no ability to choose amps for best synergy, etc. Maybe you could play with the power cords.
