An image of what is behind the screen (adjacent) is in this link.

Will not fit in my 11 foot wide room with 7 foot ceiling, LOL.

I just read about the Martin Logan 13a with powered bass that features on the fly variable phase bias.

We are entering a new era in bass management.

It seems to me that the advances in music playback are tied to advances and development in theater systems. The older surround sound techniques (DTS, Pro-Logic) and the old 5.1 systems have been updated with the addition of, for example, ceiling speakers (Dolby Vision). But with technology (Trinnov), it is now possible to virtually reposition any speaker in a given space. Fascinating technology indeed.

I can understand it being used in commercial theaters, but not the home. My guess is a potential buyer could buy a truck load of good commercial subs for the price of that monster.

Amazing to see the installation examples. Definitely not your average home theater!

Certainly a huge sub and 440 pounds (200kg). I almost can't imagine it. The Power Sound Audio S15 I have in the main system for HT is rated 725W (1,900 peak) output. Combined with the 15 inch driver the specs indicate it goes below 20HZ. I thought about going up one model when I got it but figured the weight and the size of the one I got is more manageable.
Main System - Lumin U2, Modwright LS36.5 DM Preamp, VTV Purifi 1ET-7040SA with tube buffer, EMM Labs DAC 2X (ver. 2), Torus RM-20, Thiel CS 3.7s, 2 Rel S/812 subs

this puppy can literally bring the house down, and make you ill. not as sexy looking as the big cone, but much more powerful properly installed.

Sounds like this is from Bruce Thigpen who (IIRC) designed the linear tracking tone arm (ET2) that some of us used in the '80's and '90's. They also had a big planar speaker back then, very different technologies than this baby.
