Advance Heads-Up for AS forum members on latest Ethernet Audio test not yet on video

    OK Guys,

MikeCH (Avanti Audio) from this forum has watched my videos and wanted me to see how his Vivace Ethernet cable compared to the others I am testing. I'm going to give you guys a sneak-peak of the results. He wanted feedback relative to the competition.

I received a 2.5M length and promptly set it up for my normal 100 hour burn-in. Due to the ice storm here it actually received 150 hours until I got to it so it was nice and ready to go.

First I compared it to the 2M WW Starlight 8 ($350) which up till now has been my "affordable" Ethernet cable winner.

The Avanti had significantly more air and texture than the WW. The WW is good, the Avanti is clearly much better. The audience in the live version of "Counting down the days" by Above and Beyond had a much more lifelike quality to them. The instruments had more space around them and the music sounded great.

Then I compared it to the 2M WW Platinum ($1500). The Avanti was slightly better in terms of air and making the crowd seem more life-like. It was a much closer match up and almost even. I do feel the WW had better bass - it produced the lower octaves a bit better and sounded a hair less congested in the mid-bass region. Relative to the Platinum the Avanti had a bit of a mid-bass boost. I kept going back and forth and finally settled on the Avanti over the WW due to it's performance in the mid and high frequencies, though I still like very much the WW Platinum.

In no instance was the Avanti or either of the WW's bright or harsh in any way.

Here is the kicker - the price of the Avanti cable? $250. Yup. $250.

I'm gong to do a video on entry level priced, mid-priced and top-tier priced Ethernet Cables that I feel are the best I have heard in their price range. As of now, there is no doubt the Avanti is by far the winner of the entry price point while offering mid-priced performance. I really believe if you are looking for a cable in this price range, or even more, the Avanti is the way to go.

My next winner I'll talk about coming soon is $750 and gets you the next level performance against even more expensive cables. It offers the air of the Avanti with a bit more ease in the presentation, a bit more shimmer in the higher frequnecies and better bass.

If you love trying cables like I do, I believe you'll be quite pleased with the Avanti.

    * * * IN NO WAY AM I MAKING MONEY OFF THIS OR ANY OF MY VIDEOS. THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION AND MIKE FROM AVANTI DID NOT ASK ME TO POST THIS. I AM DOING IT ON MY OWN AS I'M REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS CABLE AND I KNOW WE ALL LOVE A GOOD VALUE IN HI-FI * * *

    Hi Michael,

Hey, thank you for the kind words and information regarding your listening experience so far with the Vivace CAT7 Ethernet cable in the mix! It's very much appreciated. Your listening impressions of comparing against other cables in your stable may come in handy when I get asked, "how does the Vivace compare against X,Y or Z brands?" Of course, I understand that the information you're sharing here is with your ears and your equipment but might also serve as a good baseline going forward when I get asked the question.

    Happy listening!

    Mike
