well those are entirely different then the speakers I was commenting on, but since you asked, they sure as hell aren't pretty. Giant slender towers covered in a black sock. Definitely doesn't just blend into a room. Probably not so much ugly as just a bizarre item to have in a living area.

Hey Gary you married, if so how long Sure sound is the number one, but when I place a speaker in "the living area" it has to meet the approval of the wife. The man cave she could careless. We have been married a long time and sometimes its so much cheaper to keep them happy.

Wow...what did I miss here fellas? Looks like some kind of hell broke loose.
When I said "different strokes"...that was a nice way, to remind the group everyone is entitled to their own opinion and/or preference.
I don't see much more reason to keep this thread going. Anyone have anything more to contribute to this topic?CD

Re: 1984 called and they want their speaker back...
My divorce lawyer told me more than once, that if I killed my ex instead of getting a divorce, (1) my defense lawyer would cost less than he does, (2) I'd be out of jail before too long and (3) I would still have all my money! So it may not always be cheaper to keep them happy, especially if you aren't.

Re: 1984 called and they want their speaker back...
I don't mind the design of the speaker but I don't like the finish of the wood. Something darker is more to my liking.

Re: 1984 called and they want their speaker back...
I think they look nice, though they tend to clash with the dark floor. They would blend better in a lighter room. And if they sound good, then they blend even better.
I like tall speakers covered in socks (Acoustat 2+2). And they sound great, often surprising visitors. I have had more than one look behind them, wondering where the sound was coming from.Main 2ch/HT:Acoustat 2+2,Axiom EP500,Ray Lumley M-100, Bedini BA-803,Threshold T3,JRDG Consumate Phono, Lenco L75, ZYX Universe cart,Oppo BDP 95(transport), Calyx Femto DAC,Bryston BDP-2,Pioneer F-91 tuner,Studer A807 r2r,Consonance d-Linear15 power filter, DVDO Matrix 4x4,Mitsubishi HC-5 projector, Audience Au24e and LectraLine Xe cables,Cullen Power Distribution Box with upgraded cable

I think probably the best thing to do here is to have everyone post pics of their speakers and then I will tell them whether or not they're ugly.

Re: 1984 called and they want their speaker back...
Thanks, that's my cat Rocky. I use this pic as my wallpaper on the school smart board. The high school kids say they don't like it because he looks too intense and freaks them out.
I have been thinking about replacing the old off white woollen socks on my Acoustats with new Spandex ones. They will be cleaner and should breathe better (clearer highs). Should I get black ones to match my components and projection screen case? Off white to match the rug and ceiling better (off white goes with everything)? Or something more colourful? The wife of the previous owner had made zebra stripped socks that were on top of the off white one they came with.Main 2ch/HT:Acoustat 2+2,Axiom EP500,Ray Lumley M-100, Bedini BA-803,Threshold T3,JRDG Consumate Phono, Lenco L75, ZYX Universe cart,Oppo BDP 95(transport), Calyx Femto DAC,Bryston BDP-2,Pioneer F-91 tuner,Studer A807 r2r,Consonance d-Linear15 power filter, DVDO Matrix 4x4,Mitsubishi HC-5 projector, Audience Au24e and LectraLine Xe cables,Cullen Power Distribution Box with upgraded cable

Albert, regarding your system with the white socks, you need to raise your ceiling!

And with that...why don't we shut this puppy down. I have no interest, in seeing so-called "ugly" speakers; nor in having a contest, where we're rating each others kit.
Besides...I've yet, to abuse my new-found power.
