    Tannoy to Fyne

so I have kinda asked a few questions on some other threads and thanks for the responses but thought I might be better to just start a new one with my current dilemma.

I'm running an accuphase system in a 13x18' room. I listen to mostly rock and not at great volumes. My current speakers are tannoy kensington se's, and I'm thinking about changing over to a pair of fyne's. I was originally considering the 502sp. I'm hoping to get better depth and soundstage over the kensingtons, but without losing the detail. I also want something with some life. To complicate things I have an opportunity to purchase 703's at the same price as 702's. They are almost double the price, but I would consider them but I'm worried that they might be a bit much.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    anyone?
I'm sure the 502Sp would be fine, but the chance to get 703's for a great deal is hard to pass up....just not sure if'd they'd be to much for what I need......

What does your Canadian dealer say? Are you working with Mark?

    Re: Tannoy to Fyne

I went from a highly modified pair of Canterburys - that were highly reviewed - to Fyne 703s.

Everyone who has heard the new setup comments on it's superiority, especially in the realm of Musical Engagement.

It was cool to talk with Dr. Mills, the chief designer at Tannoy, after he and the rest of the design & management team had left Tannoy to open up Fyne Audio to the world when Tannoy was bought out.

Best wishes for greater M.E. with your new Fynes!!!

    Re: Tannoy to Fyne

I currently have Tannoy Turnberry speakers and like them. Based on the great reviews of the Fyne 703 speakers, I am looking into them.

I am wondering if Fyne speakers sound a lot like Tannoy speakers given the heritage? If not, what are the differences?

Well, no reply to the question as to Fyne speakers sounding like Tannoy speakers. Based on the similar design, I am thinking they do. I saw a picture of some Fyne speakers that actually even look just like Tannoys. Interesting.

I’ve owned both and I think the Fyne’s sound more refined.

More refined meaning more detail? Or maybe better tone? In general, are they similar? Thanks.

More resolution, more micro detail retrieval. Arguably, smoother too. Similar? Yes. Both are concentric.

My friend is an expert on Tannoy and Fyne.
He definitely prefers the Fyne's for all the reasons mentioned in this this thread and more.
He has worked with both companies for quite some time now.

He has been able to get outstanding results with the 704's in smaller rooms.
We have had numerous discussions about this.

What a great opportunity you have to get the 704's for the same price as the 703's.

Is this opportunity available to all somewhere? Can't tell what you are referring to! Thanks.

    I misread the post.

The author said he could get the 703's for the price of the 702's.
That is still an outstanding opportunity.

I think I still can, but I am intrigued with the vintage line now that I've had a chance to look into it. Just not sure how the 703 would compare to something in the vintage line, or if they are truly a step up from my Kensington SE.

i did ask about the Fyne vintage range recently but have not pursued it. My tannoy eaton legacy arrived over 4 years ago and they just get better and better so would take a huge amount to shift them . The imaging is quite stunning [ not as good as previous ml summit x but its still totally superb] some berlin electronic music just surrounds you like 7.1 sound . Absolutely lovely timbre and bass and so non fatiguing . highly recommended
