In an effort to reduce the double posts, we have gone to the standard interface rather than the bloated AJAX interface which was causing the issues.

Here are the steps:

If you want to attach an image from internet, you can do as you always do: Click "Attach image" in quick reply or advanced reply and paste its url. (This was so in the previous system too).

BUT If you want to attach an image from YOUR COMPUTER, you NOW need to click "GO ADVANCED", click "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" and in "Upload Files from your Computer" select the file and click UPLOAD.

In other words, this basic upload is not allowing you to attach an image from your computer in quick reply interface. You need to upload that image as an attachment in ADVANCED REPLY interface. That is the only difference.

The image you added now will be treated as an "attachment" but it will look almost same in the user interface. For instance check this:
This is how previous interface image looks like:

And this is how current interface image looks like:
https://www.audioshark.org/admin-testing-area-152/test-2-a-18288.html#post309812

As you can see, both images look almost same except, the second one is in a gray box that says "ATTACHED IMAGES".

The Test 2 images could not be seen on any of my computers or portables.

I was told:

Jim Smith, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1 - Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2 - If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Strange. No problem here.

That's because you're the admin, Mike!

I got the same response that Jim did.

No worries, though, Mike, I am fine with the new protocol for uploading images. Many thanks for making this change for us.

Cheers!

Ok, let’s run with this stock format and see how it goes.

Although I cannot see those images either, I went “advanced” and uploaded an image :

Well, I uploaded an image, but can’t find a “insert image” function, other than the two icons that accept image url.

Oh! Well there you go. As long as the image was uploaded, an on the list below the advanced reply, the image showed up, without “inserting” it, or it even showing up in the text as you type it in. I’m not sure if you can intersperse images throughout your text, or only just show up at the bottom of the text.

2 points Mike

The Test links you offer are only available to you and maybe a few other Administrators.

The pop-up screen from the Manage Attachments icon is small and the essential Upload button is way beyond the right hand border. Perhaps you should include the need to use the side scroll bar to find this button.

Suggest an Edit of your advice

Hope that's helpful and Image Upload Instructions can be simplified and clarified.

Peter

Bones - see my previous post, addressed to Mike I had exactly the same problem. After entering your photo into Browse, you have to scrool right for miles - there's an Upload button way beyond the right hand border. That should do the trick. Peter

The formatting is in the software we use. I recommend TapaTalk for phone, iPad. WAY easier for everything.
