You already have “dark mode” on your phone and tablet. For example, if using an iPhone, go to settings, accessibility, display/text, and enable smart invert.

Dark mode is a reference to, cease to exist.

I think you're asking what "dark mode" refers to? It's a commonly used user interface term referring to light-on-dark presentation. Such as white text on a black background. The term has been in use for a long time.

If you ever access this site via an phone or a iPad, you can try the following :
Go to settings, then under accessibility, go to display/text, and then enable Smart Invert. Your screen will invert colors and where you normally have black text on a white background, the background changes to black and the text color changes to white. The back and white colors are inverted. Colored pictures do not change (that is the Smart part of it).
