    Focal Sopra's

Do we have any new Focal Sopra owners? This speaker continues to be a real hot seller - and rightly so. I'm curious how our new Sopra owners are enjoying their speakers. Any winning amp/cable combos you have found?

My number 2's are being driven via DarTZeel pre/amp combo and the combo is sublime.

Highs are sweet contrary to reports of Focal tweeters. Mids are detailed and full very addicting. Low end is full , tight and powerful although the very last octaves are not present .

DartZeel! Yes! That would be very good I bet.

How long did it take for full break in on your Sopra's?

    Re: Focal Sopra's

Well I just received the Focal Sopra 2 yesterday. I have it hooked up to Devialet D200 a simaudio Neo 260 Transport, mac mini with Argento cables room size 16 x 40. Well first impression is these speakers have a very small foot print. Workmanship A1, Imaging and soundstage wow unbelievable for their size. I believe Mike was right they under priced the MSRP. I have had only a few speakers over the year. B&W 803's, 802's, PMC IB2's, Hansen Prince's, Tannoy Canterbury, Marten Django, TAD-R1. I have a feeling to my ears these might be one of best speaker that I've personally owned from an all around perspective.

Wow! That is high praise! How would you compare the sound of the Sopras to the magnificent TAD R-1s?

The TAD's rule, I'd say the highs are in the same league. Both are not laid back speakers they are a front row sound. The mid range and woofers are more refine in the TAD's. The workmanship of the TAD's is stunning. All of the speakers I've had definitely had something lacking after time. But I never felt that with the TAD's. I know then why did I sell them? I call it the 2 year itch. But for the money the Sopra's are a no brainer so far.
