    Florida International Audio Expo Photos

Where the heck are they? Last year there were dozens of photos from multiple posters. This year I see zip, nada. Are you guys having too much fun to post? Give a break to someone on the best coast, too far from the action. Have someone hold your beer and please post here

    Thank you

Didn’t make much effort at decent photos this year, but since there seems some demand, here are a handful of random cell phone pics until someone can get better ones posted.

It's easier to skip over the "linked" photos in that stream that I have no desire to look at when they are individual shots. I also do not have to hear any background noise or commentary.

Single photos also allow the viewer to spend as much or as little time as they want viewing that setup and checking out the associated equipment.

Re: Florida International Audio Expo Photos

This past weekend makes it my 4th year going to this event. Every year, it gets bigger and better. This year was no different.

The really cool thing about this year's show is that I got to meet and talk to OCD Mikey! He met my three brothers as well. We chatted for a few minutes, then went on our way. A few hours later, we meet again, this time my brothers and I were coming out of a room and Mike was heading in with a few friends. The music they were playing wasn't the best, both music wise and recording quality wise. I told Mike to go in there and "school" them on good sound and music! LOL

I have to say, Mike is a really, really nice, cool guy. He's just like he is on YouTube! Cool, direct, tells it how it is, doesn't BS around.

Here's a few pics of the show on Saturday. I should have asked to take a pic with Mike, but I just didn't think about it at the time. Oh well, maybe next year!

Re: Florida International Audio Expo Photos

The Clarisys Auditorium's with 6(!) VAC 300's tri-amped playing Peter Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do", followed by Queen Live, on vinyl, was absolutely spectacular, stunning really, even after hearing it hundreds of times over the years. I thought I was at the concert again. I wasn't back in the room for analog tape, but can't imagine what that was like.

Normally, I don't pay much attention to the megabuck displays, but this one was special for sure. Really great job setting this up and dialing it in, especially considering I don't know that anyone(?) at Suncoast actually heard it beforehand.

    Clarisys Auditorium - 1.jpeg

The MBL room sounded much better to me than in past shows. I went to one of the late night tape sessions and they had a cool music selection, Tom Petty, among others. Tape sounded terrific, but I measured peaks of 109db (yikes!) in the second row seat, and didn't want to sustain that for long. The MBL's hung tough.

    MBL - 1.jpeg

My other favorite was AJ's Soundfield Titans. 12x12" OB woofers on each speaker, 8 planars, 1 horn firing up, 1 horn back. All active and very tuneable - active XO's, DSP EQ, amps included at $22k all in. These had zero time on them beforehand and he had them sounding great. Very impressive.

    Soundfield Audio Titans - 1 (1).jpeg

I helped out all weekend with demos of the Dutch & Dutch 8c's and the Theoretica Applied Physics BACCH SP ADIO processor. We were booked solid for private individual sessions before and after hours, with numerous "Wow!" reactions even from analog purists. Great stuff.

    Unique Home Audio D&D 8c's - 2.jpeg

Another fun Florida Audio Expo in the books. Thanks to the SAS team for all the hard work.

Really nice to see the products from Soulnote make an appearance. I had the D-1N DAC in for review at Secrets and just recently submitted my review of it to my Editors, so the review should appear fairly soon.

I was really impressed with the D-1N DAC, and if I were shopping for a standalone DAC, the D-1N would be my first choice at this point in time. 👌

and...this photo shows the same turntable I have and use, the Michell Gyro SE II. Pretty cool.
