    Estelon Forza

If anyone has been to Munich, Iím certain youíve had the chance to meet the lovely Alissa Vassilkova of Estelon. She is the daughter of the founder of Estelon and more importantly, their CEO.

Weíve been talking on and off for about a year now. Iím maxed out on my end, but she has been persistent for me to try Estelonís.

Suffice it to say, sheís sending me a pair of their Forza model (second from the top of the line) for the store. Anyone in the area should stop in for a listen. Not sure how long Iíll have them!

Has anyone out there had any experience with Estelon? I heard them years ago when BlueBird was their distributor and loved the sound. Iíve always stopped in for a listen when at Munich and again been impressed. But has anyone out there heard them?

Heard Estelons at Rocky Mountain a few years back (maybe 5). In the typical room setup, to me, they sounded pretty darn good. When are you getting them in the store Mike?

PS - You May need to grow the showroom from my friend!

Heard a pair of X Diamonds with Dartzeel CTH-8550 and Esoteric CD/SACD player. Not bad. I'm considering either the XB Diamonds or the YB.

    Re: Estelon Forza

Definitely a great speaker and I went to the room 4 times in 3 days to hear them in Munich.

Two caveats from my listening experience, with the vinyl setup they had, the Forzas sounded quite amazing, imaging to write home
about for sure, almost perfect. When they played the digital->analog path though, perhaps it was choice of material or the D->A gear
in. question (note I'll not call out a brand as this could have been a one-off or media based), but the bass and upper driver separation
took me by surprise, it was whole different speaker. Faith was restored when they switched back to vinyl and later someone put in a
good SACD so what I heard could have been a one-off. Second,...I would recommend subs for these if you like deep bass; the bass
they render is excellent, just need the bottom 1/2 octave or so filled in. I'd bet Mike will have them sounding even better though
once he gets them setup and run in down in Florida!

    Re: Estelon Forza

Thanks guys for the words of encouragement. I think they are around 350 pounds each, but Iím told they come on wheels and in flight cases (with wheels).

They said the pair theyíre sending me is somewhere in this lineup. LOL. Iím guessing the black ones at the end. They look big! Better get my crew ready. I like that blue pair. I think those are XB Diamond or something?

Iíll report back more today, but let me say, this is clearly a world class speaker. On Friday, I moved the MBLís out to accommodate a better positioning for the Estelonís. The diamond tweeter is silky smooth and never harsh, but has all the detail. The ceramic drivers have a wonderful midrange sound and the bass/bass impact is tremendous. What struck me right away was how easy they were to drive and this translated to greater dynamics. A sealed box speaker with a cabinet composed of a unique marble formula creates a clean sound. At $139,000/pair, this is definitely a speaker in rarified air and it does need a fairly large room. I would say my 20 x 25 is minimum. I find proper setup and positioning to be crucial to get everything from this speaker. Itís a big speaker that can fill a big room and one which is EXTREMELY musically engaging, dynamic, never fatiguing, sound. A winner!

    Re: Estelon Forza

I stopped by Suncoast Audio - Mike's Store earlier today. Spent about an hour listening to the Estelon Forza speakers being driven by the MBL 6010D Pre and a pair of the MBL 9011 amps with the digital front end being MBL as well. I played Jazz, Classical and some Pop music. This is the second time I've listened to an Estelon transducer; first time back at RMAF 5 or 6 years ago.

First off, these speakers are taller than I expected. They are beautifully made with a flawless finish. The shape is unusual (what's usual these days) but quite elegant.

In terms of sound - wow! They are big and they play big. Soundstage is phenomenal. They are very fast. The diamond tweeter is very transparent and yet not edgy at all - one of the best I've heard. The speaker is very dynamic - can play loud with authority when music requires it and yet excels with the delicate notes and micro detail. Lower end was deep, tight and fast.

    - The voice presentation is crisp, real with zero grain - Boscelli and Dion sounded fabulous. Cymbal decay goes for ever.
    - Wonderful presentation of the cello and violin strings - one could hear and feel the vibration strings and the instruments.
    - Horns played by Miles and Botti were exceptional.
    - Piano notes sounded sharp with a nice decay.

Overall, this is a world class speaker. They are big and require a large room. Due to their high efficiency, they do not require a lot of power but certainly quality matters. While my listening time was reasonably short, I feel I could listen to them for hours nonstop.

Yes, they are expensive at $140K (+/-) but so good. Nice addition Mike!

    Ken,

Difficult to answer. Let me put it this way, if I were looking for a speaker system in the $125K - $175K, the Forzas would be at the top of my list along with Zellatons.

It would be interesting, however, to do a comparison with the Vivid G1 Spirits. To me, they appear to have some sound quality similarities.

As for the others, the MBL Extremes provide a presentation, texture and musicality are unrivaled by most. The Magico M6 are good but I prefer the Forza. Fyne are fine but not Forzas.

    Re: Estelon Forza

    Ken -

A very different presentation. Both exceptional.

The Estelon Forza is a very fast speaker. Very accurate and non fatiguing. It requires a large room. Fairly easy to drive.

How does it compare with the MBL? A very different presentation. I find the MBL to have a fuller sound but not as fast as the Forza. The MBL requires a bit more power to get the best of our the speaker. Both speakers are terrific but don't forget that the Forza costs 2X as much as the MBL 101s!

If I were looking for speaker in the $125K - $175K range, the Estelon Forza would be on my shopping list.

    Thanks Mike,

Iím surprised that MBL doesnít come out with speakers between the 101E Mk2ís and the X-Treme. Letís say with the same tweeter, midrange and lower midrange transducers as the 101E Mk2ís and two fully tunable stacks of woofers in smaller outboard cabinets (half the size) of the X-Treme. I think it would be a real winner.

You can add two of the three sub modules from the Xtreme system to any 101e Mk2 order. Itís just not commonly known. Two or three bass towers is the minimum based on how they connect and are controlled.

Rumor has it that MBL is working on a solution between the 101s and the Extremes.

They are fully broken in. We had a client (Charlie who you know) in the store on Friday and he said it was the best speaker he had ever heard.

Right now, the XTreme system is back setup in that room. In the front room, the Magico A5ís are owning the show with Pass, MSB and Shunyata v2.
