    Something new from Esoteric?

Esoteric Japan had this sneak peek on their FB page.

Definitely can see the headphone input. Perhaps a headphone amp? Maybe a DAC/Streamer with a headphone amp?

I’m just guessing....mums the word at Esoteric!

Perhaps the successor to the N-05? The N-05XD?

If so, would be interesting to compare to the Meitner MA-3

Likely a N-01XD with headphone amp built in. Similar to dCS Bartok which comes in two versions: with or without headphones amp built in

    Re: Something new from Esoteric?

I’ll be in the market for a good Dac/headphone amp this spring and been considering Bartok and Chord Dave. Would be nice to have a similar option from Esoteric.

Looks like its an MA-3 competitor. But, adds a headphone amp.

DCS Bartok you can add the optional headphone amp.

I'm guessing it is priced similar to the DCS w/headphone amp.

    Something new from Esoteric?

    N-05XD | OVERVIEW | ESOTERIC:Japan high-end audio manufacturer | エソテリック

I’m already thinking of amp combinations.

    Boulder 1161
    Pass X250.8
    Pass XA30.8
    Sim 860V2
    Luxman M900u
    Soulution 3 series

Would love to see Esoteric come out with a matching amp for this based around the new tech in the M1X (which I’ve requested for demo, along with a C1X).

    Re: Something new from Esoteric?

The new N-05XD looks great! anyone knows the MSRP for US?

Perhaps below N-01XD in quality of parts and design, but having headphone amp built in, and most importantly, preamp capabilities with a real volume control, is likely very enticing for many people

    Re: Something new from Esoteric?

That would mean their entry level offering has increased 60% in price... I don't think so. At that point buy a Lumin X1 all day long, although based on my time with the N01XD its a different sound entirely.

Very nice! I like simplicity, DAC directly to Amp/Integrated.

Wish that Luxman would have something like this.

    Re: Something new from Esoteric?

looking at the specs, i see it also supports analog input w/ one each of XLR and RCA ... this makes the n-05xd particularly interesting.

just thinking out loud here but any thought / comments on hooking up an analog source (phono-pre) via the analog inputs?

Interesting. I ordered an N-03T three months ago to partner with my K-03XD. So far no information at all about possible arrival date. How would you compare the Lumin X1 with the Esoteric please?

    Re: Something new from Esoteric?

If you intend to use a streamer with K-03XD, you may consider getting the U1 + X1 PSU, at a lower cost than X1. The X1 includes a built-in DAC (dual ES9038PRO with Lundahl transformer output stage) and fiber network support, whereas the U1 does not include a built-in DAC.

Lumin and Esoteric apps are interchangeable, but Lumin app is always newer.

Lumin and Esoteric network streaming features are functionally similar, except that Lumin offers Leedh Processing Volume and Lumin firmware is always newer. Lumin already has Tidal Connect support.

In terms of USB compatibility with Esoteric DAC, Lumin and Esoteric are 100% the same.
