I understand the Power Supply has a left and right bank , but why the need for (2) power cables
is beyond me . Am I missing something here ?

True mono design. Keeps the power clean between left and right. Gryphon Pandora Preamp is the same way.

Looking forward to your impressions and any comparisons.

I get the concept for separate power supply’s L/R but (2) separate power cables that plug into
the same power strip makes no sense . If that’s for keeping the power clean then maybe (2) separate power supply housing would also help instead of putting both supply’s in the same housing with no separation .

I will try to post some feedback as soon as I return home later in the week

I’d like to add I was just curious about the (2) cables , my C1 was same way . I really liked the C1 and I know the X is going to be a awesome linestage also or I wouldn’t of bought it .

Congratulations on the upgrade from what is already a fantastic pre-amp (C1) to the C1X!

I hear you however the real winning idea is that those 2 cables both power separate and isolated power supplies inside the C1X's power module and then over (again) fully isolated DC lines into the audio section of the C1X. Dual-mono as a design philosophy taken 100% of the way, no half-measures. One could argue that you might get 99.xx% (or pick a favorite quibbling percentage) if they only used one power cord into the power supply and then split out the input supply into separate power supplies to feed the dual umbilicals however their position has been with C1 and continues to be with the C1X that if you want to implement dual-mono in a pre-amp, this is the ultimate way to truly do it 100% from the wall in...

A clear stake in the ground and unique statement...

Gryphon clearly shares their point of view....

Let’s just agree Esoteric makes a heck of preamp , and I am happy to own it . I’m not a engineer it’s just something that crossed my mind .

    That's easy,...>AGREED!

BTW...I had the same question years ago when the C1 came out and the Gryphon. I was used to 2-box pre-amps and the 'why' they were preferable, same with transports
and DACs but the the 2-power cord approach on the C1 took some getting used to. A very few amps out there follow that philosophy as well...

And what did you do with your Grandioso C1, did the dealer do a trade-in on that?

Cool. There is a new Grandioso G1X now with an upgrade option for existing G1 owners via the VUK-G1X upgrade kit.

    Re: Grandioso C1X

I don't think the upgrade kit gets you a 100% G1X, only the electronics and the rear chassis plate are changed (G1X has five 10Mhz outputs compared to the G1's four). There were also changes made to the G1X chassis. I don't know how the numbers work out, upgrading vs a straight out buy on a new G1X. I have seen dealer sales of used G1 in my market for about $15K. I suspect the upgrade path, minus the chassis upgrade, would be tempting for existing owners.

Too bad there is no upgrade path for N-01 owners to the N-01XD spec.

New C1X firmware v1.11d has been released. It's interesting how firmware can be tweaked to vary the feel of the volume knob and the remote control volume key.
