Thank you for posting, brodricj. Will be interesting to see how these play out. My initial reaction is that these look more like tweaks than substantial upgrades.... unless perhaps the clock upgrade minimizes the benefit of adding an expensive external clock.

The K1X-SE transport/DAC appears to be the extension of the K01XD I am using.

I'm looking forward to learning more about it since I enjoy the form factor (one piece for transport and DAC although it looks like another chassis is required for the power supply). The Master Sound Discrete DAC is an exceptional design and compares favorably to many of the stand alone DACs I have heard.

Thanks for posting brodricj, you are the Esoteric maven.

I believe the PS1 External High Performance Power Supply is optional.

That's right. I think Mike owns the K1X + PS1 combination. I wonder if he's going to do the K1X-SE upgrade? Pricing on the VUK upgrade hasn't been announced yet.

The upgrade options have all been announced. P1X, D1X and K1X can all be upgraded to SE models. VUK pricing hasn't been announced yet.

Then the whole market Kerfuffle starts: “is this an original SE or upgrade to SE unit?”

I hope they issue a new serial number tag with the upgraded units. There are no other markings on the units to identify which model they are.

What is also interesting is Esoteric is using Magico M9 speakers in its SE marketing brochure.

Re: Esoteric announce new Grandioso-SE flagship models.

Great to see Esoteric offer an upgrade path for owners of those Grandioso products. I think that’s a positive departure from past product announcements by Esoteric.

The P1-XSE and D1X-SE are products I would definitely consider if I were to upgrade my digital. As well as an Esoteric Grandioso streamer, if they ever develop one.

Yes, that's the second thing I noticed when scrolling through the Esoteric link. I hope Magico appreciates the halo effect they are getting from Esoteric.

Me too! But quite confused and thinking it may not be a worthwhie choice as most of us have already gone with a 10M master clock.

The upgrade of internal word clock may offer very limited improvements.

I am thinking this upgrade is targeted more for owner who do not own or an to add a master clock their the system.

    Upgrade stated is 440,000 Yen.

Wonder how many boards are the swapped out, if so.

I've asked them that question a few times but never got an answer. A Grandioso network transport with ES-LINK would be a definite buy for me.

Esoteric has told distributors the Master Sound Discrete Clock upgrade yields a significant improvement whether you use an external master clock generator or not.

That number comes as a surprise. I find it hard to believe. I would have thought at least double that price.

Early feedback seems to indicate that may be the price for P or D upgrade, so perhaps times 2? Still a great price...

Yep. I'll jump all over that price. But ultimately pricing is up to the distributor. I hope they are good for that price.

Yes, consistent with early feedback here as well. The onboard upgrade from the existing embedded clock to an OCXO discrete module would be a big step up within each unit. I believe the G1X would still be the external disciplining master reference clock across a multibox setup and bring higher performance.

A big bang for the upgrade also is the adoption of the newer and improved analog circuitry following on the advances found in applicables parts of the C1X and C1Xsolo...

That -SE marketing photo with the Magico M9 does not seem right. A single M1X can't power M9, two amps per speaker are required, right? And the MXO boxes for M9 are missing. Maybe a photoshop job gone wrong?
