Any recommendations for DIY raw power cable?

Need something in the 10-12 gauge range.

VH Audio has both the parts and the recipes for decent tested DIY cables. However There are many good deals on used cables right now on several of the Audio selling sites. IMHO you could pick up something for very little that will exceed most of your DIY efforts. (I know because I have made many). FWIW, one persons opinion.

Like you I've made a number of DIY Power Cables.

I just upgraded my AC outlets with the new Furutech NCFs and will be receiving my new custom PLC with NCF outlets and connectors this week, so I want to use Furutech connectors on my powers cables, which I'm not going to find on the used market.

You might be surprised, but I understand. I made up some PC's with Furutech ends and their nano PC wire. Mine were the 14 ga for the source components. A very nice DIY cable. Have not tried the larger ga Nano wire.
Again, VH Audio has all the connectors, wire ETC that you need.

As a matter of fact, they don't have the connectors that I want to use.

The cable I'm currently thinking about using is the Nanotec Systems - #308.

Thanks for your insights.

Maybe some of the dealers on this site might be able to provide you with what you are looking for. Perhaps you may want to list the connector and wire numbers that your after.

Looks for the Chris VenHaus designs. I made a power cable for my SS amp a little like his design and it is great. It's not exactly the same though: used two solid core double-shielded (my amp is two-pronged for the AC inlet) which are then twisted (the cord is rather stiff).

Hi, I think that power cable is insignificat regarding solution of power supply of the audio components. Every audio component should have internal EMC filters. It depends on its quality not on power cable quality too much.

I've made dozens of home made cables... mostly using Belden 19364 shielded 14 gauge. or, Belden 83803 12 Gauge... also shielded. (This stuff is pretty stiff though)
You can then add whatever "ends" you like, e.g. Hospital grade from Parts Express or the various Furutech and other high end connectors... just a matter of how much $$ you want to spend. I typically use some Techflex just for looks also.

Lots of raw 10/3 power cable available un-shielded also. I make my own primarily so I can do exact lengths. There's dozens of options out there for quality power cables at reasonable costs as mentioned also.

I have made cables using DH Labs raw cable. i used the Red Wave for the power amps and Power Plus for the source components. The plugs were Wattage, standard on the Power Plus and gold plated on the Red Wave,
as per their recommendation. All improved the sound; more oomph on all and focus on the power amps.

I've had great success with Furutech products. I've been using FI-50NCF

connectors. Same as Audience uses on their $5,000 cable.... The quality and selection are second to none..

Penthouse-D - you better be careful about giving out all of Audience's secrets! I'm guessing all of their $5K cables require "hundreds of hours of break-in". Ha!
