DIY mod to Klipsch k402 horns... MEH
This is a project I have been trying to get together for 3 years now, and I finally have most of the pieces. The K402MEH was designed by Chris on the Klipsch Forums, and will be my final speaker. Mine comprises of a k402 horn modified with ports (similar to the Danley). I am using EV DH1As for my build although I might move to a BMS dual driver in the future. The horn will protrude out from the front of the cabinet a few inches, and the cabinet will be made of 1 1/2" thick MDF with a Mahogany veneer. For the bass... I am using 2 4ohm Kappa15c woofers.

When I read "meh" in the subject header, I thought for a sec you're disappointed with the outcome, I get it know. Good luck with your project!

No I bought the K402 horns, and then had a friend mcut the ports for me. I have 1 more that is cut,but I am waiting to find one more so I can have 5. The one with a cabinet is my current center channel...the one without a cabinet is one of my left and right channels that are cabinetless. I plan on making cabinets for them too...once I get my 6 channel amp made for the front 3 channels.

Right channel is completed now, and I will start assembly of the center channel Monday (cabinet just arrived from my carpenter). Once this one is completed... I am going to try a square version with the horn made out of bendable plywood, and 1/2" MDF.
1st pic is of the right channel with its grill, and the rest are of the center channel cabinet on its side.

Next will hopefully be a square version made out of plywood and mdf...which will be for surrounds or to go on top of some subs and move the current left and right to surrounds.

Hi,
Wondering how you obtained the k402 horns? Also, does using horns vertically pose and problems with coverage?
Great work!
