    What devialet should do next...

    ...according to me.

Car audio would be a perfect fit. I'm not talking about after market car audio. I'm talking about getting in with the auto makers and having a devialet system as a factory option in a luxury car brand. If I was an exec at devialet that's what I'd be tackling at this point. Obviously huge money opportunity in this and IMO the devialet products could really bring car audio to a new level by using DSP custom matched to the vehicles.

Home audio manufacturers have been partnering with the luxury brands for years. Mark levinson in Lexus, B&O in Audi, Burmester in Mercedes, and who can forget the ubiquitous Bose systems. But I personally think there's still plenty of room for improvement in this area. I just purchased a new Mercedes c400 (pics coming soon) with the Burmester system and while it's quite good it could be better.

Congrats on the new car and good idea. Whose Speakers would you suggest they pair with?

the Bose system in my new Buick LaCrosse sounds OK and has lots of speakers, but I can't say it's tons better than when I used to use nice Alpine Head Units and an array of MB Quart Speakers in my older cars when it was so much easier to do.

I think bespoke car sytems are already DSPed. i think they have all the car dimensions from the start and they build the system around that.

Devialet's advantage is the lightweight hybrid plate amps connected to SAMed car speakers. Maybe easier to design in and easier production floor installation. Not sure Phantom speakers could be integrated?

Glad you are happy with the 400, as you disappeared for a while…leaving us hanging.

Tom I thought the Burmester was only available in the S series. I was told it was a 20K option. As far as Lexus they dropped Mark Levinson a couple of years ago. BTW I do the IT work at a car dealership chain that has Toyota - Lexus and Mercedes Benz. If your going to keep the Benz past warranty make sure you get the Extended WARRANTY. Repairs are killer expensive. Did you get the 'flat' without clearcoat paint. 4K on the S550 and be careful about washing and waxing. Anyhow congratulations on the new car.

That said I think you have a very good idea regarding Devialet in cars. BUT it will have to be matched up with some good speakers (like Dynaudio) . My Toyota Avalon has JBL.

The C class redesign for 2015 has burmester as an option on the c300 and standard on the c400. Not sure about the paint. Have to check my sticker.

Will probably get a new one in 3 years so not too worried about repairs but I was shocked to hear how much the scheduled maintenance costs.

I heard that since Benz discontinued Maybach the options trickled down. Burmester being one of many.

BTW the paint was a 4K option on the S550.

If you replace every 3 years your golden.
