Bug fixes on the 8.1.0 Firmware version:
•Fix of potential issue with certain SAM V2 profiles at high level
•Fix of potential phono EQ issue of companion units in some ‘dual-mono’ configurations
•Fix of potential preamplified output issue in variable volume mode configurations
•Fix of potential DPM issue in some configurations
•Tone control now fully compatible with SAM V2
•ICM mode can now be independently turned on/off on each input

Re: Firmware 8.1
MAT®, MINIMAL ARITHMETIC TRANSFORM: DSD ENGINE
DSD64 (DSD 1x) is now supported on USB and every high speed PCM digital input, through DoP v1.0 (DSD over PCM).
I'm still confused by this...is usb native dsd and all others are DoP. Or is there still some conversion (arithmetic transformation) on the USB as well.

Re: Firmware 8.1
I read the firmware guide and this is what it says...
"In the « computer audio » era, it has now become much more accessible. Consideredby many industry leaders as the most analog sounding of digital formats, DSD hasgained a solid reputation over time and has quickly become a reference format forthe most demanding of audiophiles. The conventional PCM format of audio CDs encodes music on 16 bits (65536 levels),44100 times per second, whereas DSD format encodes music on 1 bit (usingonly 2 levels: 0 or 1) but much more frequently: 2.8224 million times per second(DSD64 or DSD 1x), 5.6448 million times per second (DSD128 or DSD 2x) andeven 11.2896 times per second (DSD256 or DSD 4x). The raw bitrate of an audioDSD stream is higher than that of an audio CD and equivalent to a High DefinitionPCM stream.
Thus, from a bandwidth point of view, it is technically feasible to carry an audio DSDstream over a High Definition capable PCM digital input. The entire Expert range isnow compatible with the DoP protocol (DSD over PCM). This new feature is availablethrough the USB input but also on the digital XLR input (AES/EBU), the TOSLINKoptical input and all coaxial digital inputs (S/PDIF). A completely unique feature.MAT® DSD Core technology converts the DSD format into Expert internal nativePCM 40 bits / 384 kHz format thanks to an optimized algorithm, limiting theamount of computational operations on the audio stream. Using only 15 bit perfectadditions (no multiplication, no storage), the MAT® algorithm performs a 128 taps, linear phase FIR (Finite Impulse Response) digital filter ensuring the conversion of theDSD format into internal native PCM format with truly outstanding performances."

Re: Firmware 8.1
Two different things, first you load the new 8.1 firmware, then you need to load a new config file.
For the firmware you need to put the 17 files on the SD, for the config files you load the dp_cfg file.
If you can't delete the files check to see if the card is locked or try reformating it.

Re: Firmware 8.1
I posted about this a month ago, see:

BTW, the Aesthetix Pandora/Romulus DACs use the same DAC chip as Devialet, and they do native DSD.

Re: Firmware 8.1
Tried to update configuration with both a prior config and then with a new one. Screen tells me to Redo config,
Old SAM Config File.
I insert an SD containing only the 8.1 files, restart Dev, and it starts, ignoring the files.
Factory Setting.
Thoughts?
