Re: Devialet mercilessly beats Magico into submission

This room sounded terrific, but there was a lot of traffic. They had a side room where people were constantly coming and going for meetings. Very busy place, but the room sounded great.

I didn't realize that Magico speakers needed to be beat into submission.

Anything that is not to the extreme left is frowned upon these days. Since anorexic people think they are fat and we don't agree with them, how much longer before we are forced to agree that they are fat and need to lose weight?

As I am not too familiar with the described practice, I wanted to try whether it works with Ayres as well. So I mercilessly beat my S3s into submission with some Getz/ Gilberto...

    Worked like a charm.

Talk to me about 900 wpc in Class D, not impressed. Power is so cheap in Class D and it's the same old pizza box anyway.

Talk to me about 800 wpc in Class AB as in D'Agostino or 600 wpc in Class A as in Pass and I am interested.

I really don't understand the positioning of what is still essentially Class-D variant at this price point unless you are after a serious space saver. But then....wouldn't you also be driving loudspeakers of a compact framework also if in that mindset?

As for the the re- assignment of restrooms for gender X in the graphic above....next there will be a discrimination argument on the labelling of "their" gender diversity.

Just like Class X, you cannot win an argument in favour of a world that runs on Class AD, just accept it for what it is on the day because tomorrow it may choose to be something else!

On the other hand, Magico S1s sounded really poor driven by Devialet (400?) monos in Munich. The M-Projects driven by Soulution were spectacular in another room.

I still have to attended a Devialet demo I would like.

That precisely is the point: if you build a tube, class A or class AB amp there is a significant cost to increasing the output power.

With class D it is very easy and cheap, so why to hike the cost at the same ratio as the others?

That is quite interesting, as Mike is telling everyone the S1 mkII's do sound spectacular with CATs amps. Hence, I guess it cannot be lack of power either.

But to be fair, in Munich many things did not sound as good as they should. A function of the venue maybe?

The D400 indeed sounds great. At the moment, I'm really enjoying the VAC Signature 200iQ monos with KT150's and feel I'm getting the same magic I heard at CES with the S1 mk2's and CAT amps with KT150's. With S5 mk2's coming, I'm excited to get those broken in as well.

Um excuse me, are you implying that anorexic people who think they are fat are not indeed fat? That sounds like bigotry. Shame on you Mark. You are not my friend anymore.

I recently heard the S3s driven by 90 watt Lamm monos, IMO, they needed more power.

There is no Magico or Devialet dealer in my area, so I haven't heard any Magicos driven by any of the Devialets.
