I know several members here upgraded their amps to the new model and LOVE them. I did not like black originally but now I think it looks awesome.

Looks pretty sweet - but is still the original one, isn't it ? (the upgraded version has different 'cheeks').

Hmmm. Not sure. That's what shows up on the S250 page. I assume more photos will show up soon.

would still love some more views on what the S250 does over the S200 in overall sound quality as the upgrade is not cheap - especially if trying to do it from Australia.

One thing the Stereo had over the monoblocks was speed, tighter(smaller) bass and perhaps a little more incisive treble, whereas the monoblocks were a little grander/laid back in sound. I preferred the Stereo in my system.

I still prefer the original color scheme but can see where some would prefer the black. I haven't heard anyone who had the upgrade performed not be impressed.

Now that my 808 has been upgraded my next upgrade will be the Momentum's.

And, it's a significant improvement over the S200. I'm very happy with the upgrade.

Hi Mike

6 months later. Do you have some quick thoughts on the improvements of the S250 upgrade vs the original s200?

cheers
Shane

Shane,

Thanks for inquiring.

The S250 upgrade is a significant step up from the S200. It has better lower end control, more depth and more detail. It is a more engaging and musical. In my opinion, a no brainer upgrade even at $7,500!

It does get warmer than S200, at least in my opinion. So, I recommend the amp be setup in a space with good ventilation.

Thanks for the update Mike

Sounds like I should start saving , as living in Sydney it will cost a whole lot more than 7.5k :weird:

And now that you have vinyl, life must be good!!

Indeed it is! Mark (MDP) was here recently. His view and opinion was that my system has never sounded better; and, I have to agree!

Thx!

Were the copper heat sinks changed in the update? The new one is one solid piece instead of being broken up by the horizontal bar across the top.
