Anyone have experience with Viva Audio products?

I'm especially curious to know about their 300b phonostage. Does it include MC capabilities?

I am planning a visit to Italy before summer next year where they have massive horns as well.

Never heard them, but generally based on theoretical research of speaking to those who have owned Viva Verona and their integrateds, unless you are buying an expensive wavac, this seems to be the choice for low wattage amps. I prefer them in Red though

I just spoke on the phone with Louis Conte of Audio Video Expressions because I wanted to demo the PASS INT, but he no longer keeps any PASS products in stock. He wants to demo the 2 VIVA Integrated amps for me on Saturday morning as long as our schedules sync up.

I was really hoping to hear the PASS products but sadly now there is nobody in may area that has any to demo. This is the part about High End and this hobby that is no fun.

I've talked at length with Louis. It's tough with Reno. But I see things getting better. Pass is VERY fair with me. They send plenty of interested people (Florida) my way and they are an amazing company to work with.

As for Viva, you know I'm a big fan. I've sold many of their products, but we are talking, 10/12 watt type stuff. Are your speakers that efficient?

I'm going to ramp up my Avantgarde offerings in the store and Viva will be my choice of electronics.

My current speakers are not efficient enough but if I do anything, I plan to do both amp and speakers together.

I just figured since he is in my neighborhood, and does not have any PASS to demo, I will listen to whatever he wants to demo for me.

I am assuming that the Solistino is the lower cost version, around $10K???

Yes. $10,500. What speakers?

Is he a Viva dealer? I don't see it listed. Louis carries McIntosh. That would be a great brand for your DynAudio's.

No idea on speakers, he has Tannoy and Wilson to demo.

Yes, his site now lists and displays the Viva and he has both Ints on the floor. I am not so sure that's what I am looking for, but I won't say no to a listen. When he calls me back to confirm appointment, I will also ask to hear some McIntosh

I thought some of Viva's amps were up in the 30-40 WPC range? IIRC the integrated amp with the 845's is a little over 20 WPC?

No published specs. The ones Bryan mentioned are lower. The big Arora monos get up to 30-40.

Solista sounded nice on Alexandrias, and Gian60 and his Italian buddies rate this better than other sets like Airtight, NAF, MAstersound, etc...I haven't compared. Annapolis Raider also says these are the only SETs he would have used with his trios

I just got back from a listen to the Solistina driving some Tannoy Canturburys. This was a first time listen to Tannoy speakers so that was an adjustment to start with but after an hour I came to enjoy the setup. I took my own music, some disks I thought were recorded really well. He had a newer McIntosh CDP hooked up and everything was somewhat bright or there was just a whole lot more top mids than I am used to. The Solistino has plenty of headroom and sounded pleasing way down low also. It sure throws a lot of heat tho and may not be the best choice for warmer climates. At an unpublished 20wpc, this tank is no slouch. I wasn't real happy to hear that the price just went up $2500 as it was a bargain at $10k. MJ's Man in the Mirror and SRV Tin Pan Alley had the performers in the room and the huge speakers disappeared.

Just for fun we then moved over to the Burmester-Wilson Alexia room. o61 CDP, o35 Pre, and 911mk3 amp. Wow, what a nice system and now I want to sell my house :) Burmester is just gorgeous gear. Oh, and all the CDs that sounded bright in the other room.....not with all Burmester.

I think what I just learned tho, is that what I currently have is pretty decent, even if it's old. My room I think is my worst enemy and I may think about treatment soon.
