I reiterate that the HTMCPS is one of the finest sounding MC phono stages(to me) in comparison to numerous I have tried...

since I changed it to run on two 12v rechargeable batteries, I had to make some upgrades to make life easier.

1) Put on terminal clips so they are easy to remove when I switch to the charging terminal clips
2) Made a quick connect so I don't have to take the actual phono stage down when I want to move the batteries for charging (maybe twice a year..lol)
3) Added a switch and a display so I can check the remaining voltage at any time...so anything above 18 to 20 volts is good, 24 volts ideal ...full charge I get a little more than 12 volts each...

Remember, this is a simple board, straight DC powered, quiet, very detailed

Pictures of course !!!

Looks good!! How you liking that CA table?

Love it !! Balanced, neutral ..flawless tracking...You know I keep checking the alignment and it is spot on...no fiddling required which sort of throws me...LOL

I love the fact that it cue's ULTRA slow...gives me a chance to see how I am line up at the start of an lp...3 more weeks to go and I will have my cover !!!

BTW...that is QUITE the phono stage you have...wow..talk about high end

In comparison to mine, I feel like I brought my soap box racer to Talladega...LOL

You realize that the HTMCS is just the circuit board and not the completed device. Do not feel like your preamp is somehow less then worthy next to an expensive device like the Hoveland. Because of the many differing voltages required to run a tube device, tube power supplies are expensive. Shielding their noise from the rest of the circuit also takes some expense, and in a low volume sales unit on a commercial basis all of that really adds up. Also, tubes cost more then Op-amps do and becuse of the heat involved in just making tubes conduct, then are also more difficult to get a quiet circuit out of. If you look at the specs for the Hoveland, the signal to noise ratio for the phono section is 60 dB. I'm pretty sure you battery powered HTMCPS will equal that as well.

Hey Shelly...I have since revised my opinion on the HTMCPS...its good, but I have recently put together better with zero noise in comparison...

Is it better than a lot of the 100 to 200 dollar stages ? Yes indeed. But I currently have a $100 solution that blows it away - :exciting:

Good to see you dipping in the waters here !!!
