This is a nice Forum, thanks for starting it.

I have a repair question....Driver for a single-driver speaker, the magnet came loose from the basket and unfortunately it's not a smooth contact between the two surfaces. It was originally just loose but when trying an epoxy for the repair I was monkeying with it too much and it completely separated, so now epoxy won't work.

I was wondering if some type of 'hot glue' might work? They won't be driven hard, at least by me....the wife, I'm not sure what she does when I'm not around.

Thanks in advance, Hank

Hi Hank - welcome to Audioshark. What speakers do you have?

Mike

Thanks Mike and Joe....it's a Loth X Amaze as reviewed here....6moons.com/audioreviews/songaudio2/cecilia.html

It's a nice sounding single-driver that I use off and on in a second system.

Have to wait for 10 posts before I can upload a photo...

JB Weld if both are metal parts you are wanting to re-join.

Twisted, I don't have a 'smooth' surface to adjoin; I started with the JB Weld and it didn't work.

Thanks

Thanks Bob, I don't think my issue is near as bad as this chaps (thank goodness)....this will be a trial and error attempt, with the worse result being I lose the treatment that was done on the driver which made a very noticeable improvement and have to buy new drivers....fortunately not the end of the world!

Hank

Yes, it's never as bad as we think NorthStar, somebody's always in much greater dire straits...

Thanks...some folks get real possessive of their 'handle'...spent some time up many years ago on a drive to Alaska and back. You're Rockies were pristine.

Bob, yes, replacement would be the easiest option. But I had these drivers coated with a proprietary coating that greatly improved the sound, so I was trying to save them. Next weekend I'll have some free time and I'll do something to them....I'll let you know.
