    Trouble Playing Music Files

I'm trying to play music files either from an external hard drive or a flash drive. Then going from my laptop (using J River 28) and onto my preamp via USB cable. The problem is that once a music file plays, it won't play continuous. I'm not sure if it's the laptop or something in the J River program. Help, I'm going nuts and it's a short trip.

    Re: Trouble Playing Music Files

I wonder if you are somehow running into congestion on you USB bus (should not happen given what you're doing), or with some other I/O bus on your laptop. Have you tried copying a file from the external drive to your internal drive and then seeing if JRiver will play it without interruption to your preamp? You might also check the Task Manager to see if there is any particular process that is using an abnormal amount of resources.

Do you have the proper USB driver installed (e.g. McIntosh - Product Support) and selected in the JRiver settings? What are your other JRiver settings (e.g. Audio Device, DSP and Output Format)?
