    Wadax Atlantis Reference DAC

I received my Wadax DAC last Thursday Evening and hooked it up with a transport and let it run since then. I think that break in is a strange thing and its hard to say when something is fully stabilized and at its peak so before I was going to really sit and see what this beast does I let it run.
I did a quick listening session of Friday and to be frank I was startled by what I was hearing. I own a CH Precision 1.1 mono with the optional X-1's and have recently just sold the clock that I was using in the system and have heard the MSB select two, DCS big stack and a bunch of others but I really was unprepared for what I listened too. I walked away for the weekend and decided to let in run in and then see what was going on.

    1) The Wadax does not sound like any digital I have ever heard
    2) The Wadax does not sound like analog or some manipulated digital to try to sound like analog.
    3) The artifacts ( for lack of a more meaningful term) are just not there.

What does it sound like you ask? I am at this time not prepared to use words to describe what I am experiencing in my room. I need more time and I think I want to see what I have at the end of the week as it is constantly playing.

It is a very large and costly device however it is totally upgradeable, uses unique ideas in both design and style, doesn't required all kinds of wires and power cords to make all the pieces connect and is IMO at first blush in a league of ONE

If you haven't heard it you just can't understand. Sometimes something comes along that changes your entire ideas about a subject, changes your internal parameters ands sets new paradigms.

    Re: Wadax Atlantis Reference DAC

I appreciate all of those who follow my forum and my rants.
I have had the Wadax here now for about two to three weeks and its been playing almost constantly since it has arrived.
I don't know how long anything really takes to break in and this is truly unmeasurable but after golf this morning I decided to do some serious listening alone in my room.
I am playing CD's since I don't have the streamer yet and went looking over the last few days through the 2000 or so that are stored in large plastic tubs and pulled out a few I liked and remembered as sounding good but NO audiophile shit. I like music not frozen pizza type great recordings of crap.
Sorry needed to get that out.

So today's gem is Peter Green's Splinter Group disc called Destiny Road, For those who aren't familiar Peter he was the original guitarist of the Fleetwood Mac band.

I love this album tracks 4 through the end just bring me back to my going to live concert days of my youth when a concert was a concert not some fluff show in a stadium or a hockey rink.
Places like the Fillmore East, My Father's place, The academy of Music, The Boston Tea Party, The Psychedelic Supermarket, The Gym at Stony Brook University, and other small venues with great rock and blues bands like Savoy Brown, Fog Hat, Jay Giels, Aerosmith, Bloodwyn Pig, Mountain etc. That just played and kicked your ass.
Sitting in my room is like sitting in a table up front or in the first 5 rows and watching magic happen in front of you.
I sit in the dark , don't care about the gear or the speakers or the room or anything but having the music thrill me, its cleansing, its spiritual, is uplifting, its mood altering and I am not stoned or drunk. Just a bottle of water at my side.
It brings me back to seeing Jimi and Lesley, Stevie and Eric, Jethro Tull with Mick Abrahams and Glenn Cornick its a humbling day and I am proud that its mine. Sitting in the front and not a care in the world.

It was a new day yesterday.....

The Wadax is supposed to be a great DAC. It would be interesting to get your perspective on it vs the CH Precision.

    Thx!

The Wadax is not a different flavor or a subtle change. It is completely different than any of the Digital pieces I have heard.
I love the CH and had the C1.1 mono with the T-1 and 3 X-1 power supplies with the new HD Board and the New Streaming board. I have heard and used many others and I prefer not to comment there however suffice to say I am familiar with most of the big boys.

It is singular in its own place as something transcendent and alone in its place. It is not at a price point that many will be able to buy but it is IMO the first to show the promise of the technology and to make me forever put the old debated to bed for good.' Yes its that freakin' special!

Appreciate your perspective. I've been a fan of MSB, CH P, DCS, EMM and the new Esoteric. I look forward to a listen of the Wadax at some point in the future.

I have not heard the Grandioso so I cant include that however as I said this is truly something far beyond and its not close and not difficult to understand.
MSB, dCS, are good products but this is singular in its place in the universe. I see you are in Florida come listen for yourself
