Topping D90 vs RME ADI-2 dac?
Has anyone either heard or purchased either one of these dacs? They both are hot as heck now, at least accordoing to the internet of things?

Haven't heard either - sorry there. But, I have seen a lot of 'ink' on the D90 as of late, too. Interested to hear what people have to say.

Re: Topping D90 vs RME ADI-2 dac?
We carry the RME ADI-2 DAC, and I use a Pro version myself. It's an extremely good sounding AKM4493 implementation, but the UI and features are intimidating to people who are used to / prefer simple audio electronics. I'd say the ADI-2 has been popular for a long time now due to its performance-to-cost ratio.
Couple of caveats though. If you don't get comfortable with navigating the UI and understanding what things mean, you might accidentally change a setting and not know how to undo it. Also I found the maximum gain setting caused audible distortion for signals close to or at 0dBFS, although that may have changed in a firmware update.Neko Audio

I have D90 in my desktop system. I was planning to try in in my hi-man rig for some time ... maybe this week.

Re: Topping D90 vs RME ADI-2 dac?
There's a new MQA version of the Topping D90 out now.
I love the features of the RME ADI-2 FS dac. The RME looks intimidating but I think it will not be too bad to setup.Last edited by joeinid; May 18, 2020 at 06:33 PM.

Re: Topping D90 vs RME ADI-2 dac?
I have been living with the Topping D90 MQA for two months now and I can say I love it. It has taken the spot in my main system replacing a highly modded MSB Gold DAC III. Highly detailed, never harsh and giant holosonic soundstage. I feed it via coax S/PDIF, USB, Bluetooth and I2S.

Re: Topping D90 vs RME ADI-2 dac?
The D90 got a good review on the Headfi forum but one guy bought one and it failed after 3 months. It needs to be sent back to china for repair. I think that if they offer service in the U.S. it would be worth a try. But for $700, some people will consider it disposable.

Re: Topping D90 vs RME ADI-2 dac?
I recently purchased the RME-ADI-2 FS to use in my office for headphone listening. I really like the features and sound into my LSA HP-1 planers. I may connect it in my main system to see how it sounds against my Bricasti M3.
