    Tidal new pricing

Didn’t see a post on this yet, so putting it out there. (Apology if I didn’t search hard enough and it’s already on here somewhere).

Tidal just rolled all of its premium hi-res streaming features into one affordable plan | Tom's Guide

Tidal is streamlining services and will be including hi-res at no extra cost as of April.

I’ll keep an eye on this and probably switch from Qobuz; while I prefer Qobuz slightly, that’s a pretty decent monthly savings.

Nice to see something heading in this direction with all the inflationary price gouging and shrinkflation tendencies these days.

I use Tidal and I think I'm still in shock but really happy with something reducing my cost.

My monthly cost for Qobuz is $10.83. If I read the link correctly, the new Tidal HiFi plan is $10.99/month. What am I missing?

For one thing. If you buy a yearly subscription you save at least one month in cost per service. Last year I was looking for a yearly subscription for Tidal and one had to go to BestBuy to get it. They changed to that option directly and it saved at least one month of fees. Qobuz has been doing it from the start.

I'm paying 13.96. Must be paying in advance for a year? (I don't)

    Re: Tidal new pricing

I love reducing my monthly recurring costs. It helps to have something left for good hi-res audio gear and vacation trips. I save money on so many things, but my Qobuz subscription isn't one of them and will continue with the best streaming service on the market.

Tidal is replacing MQA with FLAC so can't justify charging more for the same product.

A streaming service is not all about flac. The library and the master records used are also important. An 192 kHz 24 bit file with a poor master record, will sound poor.

Moreover, Qobuz has sublime and Tidal not. For that reason, Qobuz is my first choice

If Tidal was free, I still wouldn't give up my Qobuz account.

    Re: Tidal new pricing

I would keep paying the 19.99 if they would keep MQA.

Not sure when the new pricing starts. They charged me 19.99 on the 6th.

    So, the 16/44.1 is 10.99 a month.....not the 24/192. That's still 19.99/month. I think I'll stick with Qobuz.

Believe that is correct. One plan, incl hi res, 10.99, as far as I read it.

TIDAL will combine its HiFi Plus and HiFi tiers as of April 10. The benefits of the pricer HiFi Plus plan will now be available to those on the more affordable HiFi plans; the single tier will be simply dubbed TIDAL. An individual TIDAL plan will cost $10.99 a month.

Note to Tidal subscribers: check your next bill to make sure it's not wrongly charged with an additional item called "DJ Extension" that you don't need.
