Servers / Players and Playlists... I Can't Be the Only One

Recently I switched to USB connection (thread here ) between my Bryston BDP-2 and DAC, which means that I'm actually not utilizing the BDP's strength, namely it's in-house-designed SPDIF output. This has me wondering about file players that are optimized for USB output.

However... I usually listen to my entire library on shuffle (currently around 9000 tracks). I just load the entire library as a playlist; unsure what the playlist limit is for Bryston but I haven't hit it.

If I understand correctly, Aurender has a 500 track limit; Lumin is 2000. Looking around online, I can't seem to find out numbers for Auralic Aries or Innuos models. Does anyone have experience with those or other models?

I can't be the only person who likes to listen this way, yet I never see any discussion about it. Switching players would really change how I enjoy playing music. My old Auraliti PK100, using mPad software also let me employ the whole library. So what's up with the limits on newer, more pricier options? BTW, the files are all on an external SSD... I have no interest in setting up a NAS at this time.

The other option could be something like the Innuos Phoenix to ensure an optimal USB signal.

Of course, I can keep on as I'm doing now, as it works and sounds good. But that curiosity about potentially better USB output, and associated control apps, is quietly nagging. There's always something, right?

This is possible via Roon, when you use a USB DAC or our Roon Ready product line.

Good to know, thanks; although I don't want to involve the computer, and am not enthused about buying a Roon core.
