Rotel RCD 1572 is a Winner

My unit showed up yesterday, a day later than original FedUp Tracking. I was on my way out and had no time to deal with it. I unboxed it before bed and it is gorgeous in Silver and matches up with the Luxman nicely.

This morning before starting work, I swapped out the 1072 for the 1572 and fired it up. I had time to listen to 2 tracks I use for demos, Tin Pan Alley and More Than One Way Home (Keb Mo).

Without any warmup and right out of the box I could hear the step up. Very smooth and liquid presentation. Closer to analog than the 1072.

The tray is fast to open and close, but like almost any player, a tiny bit flimsy. At the moment, the only thing I don't like is the tray itself. To pick the disk up after playing, you have to poke your finger thru a hole at the bottom to lift the disk enough to grab it. Hopefully it does not lead to scratched disks.

They changed the remote face from silver to black and made the buttons smaller, but I don't use it that often. The codes are the same as the 1072 so I won't have to reprogram the Harmony One.

For anyone limited to a $1K budget for a CD Player, this might be the one to beat.

Re: Rotel RCD 1572 is a Winner

So I have had a few days now to play this baby. I really like it a lot. Compared to the 1072, which was also quite good, there is more detail, more bass, more control, and an overall tube like sound. I have only spun maybe 15 disks so still working out things.

    So far the pros are
Ability to dim power LED and Display
    Fast drawer
    Shuffle stays on until disengaged
    Bass
    Control
    Detail
    Heavy unit and solidly built
    Great looking

    Cons
    Made in China
Have to use finger in disk hole to remove from tray
Like most others, tray does not come out far enough to drop disk in
Tray is thinner and more flimsy that the 1072, which was strong and ridgid
Remote absolutely SUCKS, the 1072 remote was light in color with needed buttons large and right at the top, the new one is all black with teeny tiny buttons and barely readable text and the buttons you need are all at the bottom and easily fat fingered unless you are a skinny woman or child. I don't use the remote often.

Nuf said! The 1072 is a tank and over performer, BUT, the 1572 is in another league. I was skeptical at first but the more I listen, the more I like. The Fynes are also coming along nicely so Bass and Detail is awesome. The 1072 went up for sale today, it will find a good home.
