    Re: music folder transfer problem

So all you want to do is move a folder(s) of sacd-rips from one iMac to another?

If so, first check that those original folders have the all sacd data you think should be there.

Then read this to connect the computers and move the folders:
Transfer files between two Mac computers using target disk mode - Apple Support
Also, keep in mind sacd-rips may take awhile to migrate over from one computer to another given the large file sizes.

Alternately, if you have an external hard drive available, you could move the folders there and then connect that hard drive to the new computer and transfer them over.

Christian….I’m sorry I did not make my initial post more understandable. I have the folders already on my new Mac. I want to make them available to listen to on LUMIN but cannot find a way to make them appear on the LUMIN app so I can play them. They are part of an external HD that is attached via a usb and appear in Finder in a sub folder within a folder labeled LaCie Music .

    Re: music folder transfer problem

If you use Lumin app to access your local files, please install MinimServer to the new iMac, and make sure to set its content directory to your USB drive music folder. After MinimServer finishes scanning your new iMac, in Lumin app, change the library to the MinimServer on the new iMac. If you had another MinimServer on the old Mac, you need to differentiate between each other (with different computer name), or uninstall the old MinimServer from the old Mac.

If you use Roon, please install Roon to the new iMac, transfer your Roon Core from the old Mac to the new iMac, and on the new iMac, set the Roon storage to watch the USB drive music driver folder.

Peter..in 'Properties' under the music note in 'contentDir' it says ....users/dsmith/Music.....if the folder displayed in Finder is labeled 'LaCie Music'...that contains the sub folders that contain my SACD albums...what do I change the 'contentDir to in Properties..?

If you only have music files under LaCie Music, i.e. you do not have any other music files outside of LaCie Music, then the content directory should be the full path to LaCie Music.

    Re: music folder transfer problem

If you already have the files in a folder in your computer and you are using Roon, what about directing Roon to include that folder when using Roon?
That is very simple to do:
In Roon, go to Settings, then select Storage, then Add Folder, find the folder with the music and select it and you are done.
Then when using Roon, the music in that folder will become part of your library.
If you need help with that, check with the folks from Roon (‘Rebecca’) to help you.

If you purchased the X1 from a dealer, could you ask them if they could help you with your new Mac's configuration? It wouldn't really take very long to do in-person while in front of the computer, but doing it over the phone or a video chat might be difficult.

    If I understand correctly:
    - You have all music files in an external USB drive
    - The music files are stored in a folder named: "LaCie Music"
    - Under "LaCie Music" you have several subdirectories (folders). One of those folders contains the SACD music files.

When you open Finder in the MAC, can see the external drive and all your music folders including the folder with SACD files? If that folder is shown, then you should be able to open Roon, click on "Settings", then "Storage", then click on the button "+Add Folder" and you should see a list of all the directories that are available. One of those directories should be "LaCie Music". You can highlight it by clicking on it and then click on "Select This Folder". If you select the "LaCie Music" directory, any subdirectory contained under that directory will also be accesible to Roon. Once you have selected a directory/folder, Roon will scan that directory and make all the albums/tracks available in your Roon library.

    Re: music folder transfer problem

For some reason that doesn't work.what I really want to be able to accomplish is to be able to access the SACDs through my Lumin X1 like I was able to do prior to merging my old iMac with my new model.i was able to push the folder at the top of the app and they albums would appear and be able to be played...if anyone knows how to reproduce that setup I would be willing to reward you for your efforts.thanks
