LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
I recently acquired a LUMIN U2 Mini that I use pretty exclusively to stream Qobuz. It sounds way better than my MacBook did. But I find the LUMIN app clunk to use, and often go back to the Qobuz app just to search for albums and so forth. Online the Innuos app looks much more elegant, but I haven’t had a chance to try it in person, and the dealer in Seattle doesn’t do in-store demos anymore. So, anyone with experience with both, would I like Sense better than the LUMIN app?

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
If you don't like Lumin app, you may try alternative apps like JPlay for iOS or Roon to control the Lumin.
If you'd like to have a Roon 60-day trial code for Lumin hardware, let me know. Note that to use Roon you'll need to install the Roon software on your Mac, and install Roon Remote app to your iPad.Peter Lie

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
I've been researching streamers and the control app will be a very important consideration. I use the excellent BluOS app at present (for NAD, Bluesound and more recently a number of other brands), so I appreciate its usefulness compared with many other apps.
I had a demo of an Innuos device recently and could get used it its Sense app, though I don't think there are PC (windows or Mac) versions. By all accounts from this and other forums, the Lumin app is poor and also on limited platforms, so I won't be going down the P1 route despite the fact the hardware ticks all my boxes.
I'm likely to go for the yet-to-be-released NAD Master Series M66 streamer / DAC / preamp as it also ticks all boxes (and likely everyone else's too) and its BluOS app is second to none, apart from Roon that required extra hardware and a subscription. M66 due for release in November.
PS - If NAD's brand name conjures up cheap and nasty mass-produced mid-fi (as in the early days perhaps), keep an open mind and seriously consider their Master Series. They are routinely reviewed with exceptional praise.Sources - NAD M50.2 (streamer, CD player, CD ripper, hard drive music store)
Amplification - NAD M33 all-in-one, NAD M12 preamp (in reserve), Atma-Sphere Class D monos
Speakers - Avantgarde Duo XD, Avantgarde Duo (2006) - both aesthetically modified

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
I've been using the Lumin apps since the day it came out in two Lumin players. Never really had any issues and if there was a problem, Lumin ( Peter) is right here to assist as needed. You can't beat that for customer service.

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
I m using Lumin app since a couple of years now ni my Android mobile and also In my Ipád with no problems.
From time to time there appears some problem but most of the time it was due to my mobile not the App itself.
In all them Peter was ready to help as usual.
I really believe that Lumin´s customer service with Pete always on line is really first class.!!!!McIntosh C302 + C2600 - Lumin A1 - Lenco L75 - Marantz SR6007 - Paradigm S6 - Gaia II - Chord Epic Twin Speaker Cable + Jumpers - Bada LB5500

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
Kudos to Peter. At his suggestion, I’ve now tried JPlay, and I like it a lot. Still have the great sound from my U2 Mini, and now with great graphics, artists bios and the like. FWIW, off on another forum folks are talking about problems using Sense with Qobuz. So I’m all set.

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
Can't say I love the Lumin app - it's no exemplar of UI excellence - but I've used it for years and it gets the job done with little fuss.
As an example of why I use it almost exclusively, while Roon is a gem of a user experience and feature rich, Lumin app sounds better to my ears. I won’t use an app the looks and feels good when there’s better SQ to be had. I also tried the Linn app with Lumin players as well, and it's not better enough to make me use it.
Bottom line, the app is somewhat important, but the hardware is far more important imo, as long as the app provides basic functionality in a reliable way and doesn’t compromise SQ.Main System

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
This update of Stereophile's 2020 Innuos Statement review might be of interest. The author is a professional music critic in addition to a hardware component critic, and here we see some interesting commentary on the Next Gen hardware upgrade and the InnuOS Sense app (vs. the Roon option).

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
“I've grown to use it almost exclusively because with the Statement NG, music sounds more vital than it does through Roon.”
When I first told people roon was not the best sounding, they thought I was crazy. How could software affect the sound?
Years later, people continue to see the light.

Re: LUMIN app vs Innuos Sense
I've thought that from the first time I tried Roon, Mike. Seemed obvious to me.
Lifetime Roon subscription, Roon has lots to offer, including ARC. But it won't be my primary app until SQ catches up.Main System

Does anyone have experience with these new cables yet? In particular, I am curious how the Theta line compares to the Venom-X. Thanks in advance.
