    Innuos Pulse

PULSE Series – Innuos – High-Fidelity Digital Music Servers and Streamers

We are excited to announce the debut of the PULSE Network Player series at High End Munich next week.

The new Innuos PULSE series brings you the Innuos experience whether you want to mostly play music from streaming services like Qobuz or TIDAL or whether you just want another zone in your home connected to your main music server. The Innuos PULSE Network players can be used in two different modes:

    - On Standalone Mode, you are able to use the Innuos Sense app to play streaming services, Internet Radio and music stored on a NAS to a multitude of audio systems. In this mode, the network player becomes the centre of your audio system, also enabling to use the Sense app with other streamers on your network.
    - On Endpoint Mode, PULSE Network Players connect to a main Music Server, be it an Innuos Music Server, Roon Core, HQ Player or any Logitech Media Server based server. PULSE will then show as a zone on the respective music server app and you will use it to browse and play music on the PULSE Network Players.

    PULSEmini Network Player
PULSEmini is our entry-level music player but its sound is anything but entry-level. Following on the design of our acclaimed ZEN Series, PULSEmini has the power and reliability to run innuOS Operating System specifically configured for optimal music playback:

    - Custom-designed motherboard with an Intel quad-core processor
    - Industrial-Grade SSD module specifically for the Operating System with power-loss protection, Low Density Parity Check ECC engine and Global Wear-Levelling technologies
    - 4GB of highly reliable Industrial-Grade RAM

PULSEmini will output PCM up to 32bit/768MHz as well as up to DSD512 via USB to compatible DACs. It further complements its digital outputs with coaxial and optical SPDIF outputs capable of up to 24bit 192KHz

    PULSE Network Player
PULSE raises the bar by integrating our new custom RECAP2 LPSU power supply, designed in collaboration with Dr. Sean Jacobs, bringing in a smoother and more organic sound that you can enjoy for hours without fatigue. The RECAP2 uses only high-grade components such as Medical-Grade filtered IEC, Audio-Grade toroidal transformer and Mundorf Capacitors.

PULSE further adds to the PULSEmini by having 8GB RAM for handling even larger music library databases and adds an AES/EBU output for further connectivity with audio systems.

PULSAR Network Player + USB Reclocker
PULSAR is the star of our PULSE Series. Sporting a premium aluminium chassis yet the best is still reserved for the inside, where it packs a custom ARC6 module with Active Rectification and over 130000uF of Mundorf Capacitors.

Instead of SPDIF and AES/EBU outputs, the PULSAR offers an optimised USB output to take sound quality to a whole new level by incorporating a PhoenixUSB Lite Reclocker powered by a custom DC4 CX Regulator Module with Audionote KAISEI capacitors for a smooth yet fast and detailed sound.

The innuOS Operating System's SSD is also upgraded to a SLC (Single-Level Cell) module, as opposed to the more common TLC (Triple-Level Cell) for the best durability and lower operating power noise.

Overall, PULSAR will deliver you a large, deep soundstage with incredible instrument separation and true-to-life sound textures that brings true musical emotion to your home. Listen to what you have been missing!

PULSEmini will be available in black finishing whilst PULSE and PULSAR in both Black and Silver finishing.

The recommended price for PULSE series will be the following:

    PULSEmini

    999 EUR | 899 GBP | 1 249 USD | 1 599 CAD

    PULSE

    2 599 EUR | 2 299 GBP | 3 249 USD | 4 199 CAD

    PULSAR

    5 499 EUR | 4 949 GBP | 6 899 USD | 8 949 CAD

    Re: Innuos Pulse

I wonder what this means for the Zen series and the Zenith in particular. It would make a lot of sense for this to get the ARC6 module along with try PhoenixUSB Lite. Begs the question though why they didn’t just introduce the Pulse with an option for users to add their own storage if desired.

    Re: Innuos Pulse

I've read this new Pulse/Pulsar series won't be shipping until September. I currently use a Roon Nucleus server with 2TB SSD music storage networked out to a Moon SimAudio streaming dac. I have plans to get a new dedicated DAC and reconfigure the server / streamer. In this situation is it better to keep my Nucleus server and just add the new Pulsar network player? Or, drop the Nucleus and get a ZENith mk3 combo with on board SSD?

    Thx

Excellent question. In this situation, I would keep the Nucleus running core duties and get the new Pulsar network player. The Pulsar will have upgraded parts over the the Zenith and be totally dedicated to network streamer duties with no ripping/storage, etc. You may likely find you prefer the sound of the Innuos software. Try both and see.

    Mike,

It's been awful quiet on the Innuos Pulse front. What is the status of shipping? Is September still reasonable? Also, have you heard them at the shows, if so, what were your impressions?

    Thanks!!

    Re: Innuos Pulse

Im interested in finding out more about this unit ive been looking for an all in one solid ,simple to use yet audiophile solution to feed the dac in the main living room system. we strictly stream but from all types of sources so right now i have several "boxes" i want something that can seamlessly switch between specifically Qobuz, tidal, spotify ,Roon , airplay(apple music) , chromecast , Local files , then go through hqplayer upsample to PCM/DSD before going to the dac. that way anyone in the house weather they have an apple device or android use roon or whatever can stream hi-res to the main system. we do exactly that now but its kind of a pita to manage.

Pulse is like the main Innuos devices without the storage and ripping. They have the latest tech too.

If you want to know more, give me a call.

And as reminder, in late September we will have the Innuos rep on to talk all about them.

Shipping this month. Can’t really give any commentary until I get to play with one. We are taking orders now though.

I'm looking forward to learning what you hear in the network streaming use case. I've been waiting for a server to put on my home network that sounds meaningfully better than my Roon Nuc.

I'm locked into in-home network streaming over a long run of Cat cable, and over the past few years the improvements to digital servers seem to have mostly focused on the use case of direct connection to a dac. I'm also pretty dedicated to Roon as I like the interface and my wife likes it and uses it too. And it integrates Qobuz pretty nicely AND Roon can run on my iPhone and Macbook simultaneously, which I actually use a lot.
