Re: fidata audio network component
Well I have already had time to evaluate the Aqvox Switch.
First of all I did a close listening with my generic D-Link, connected to my PSU Kenneth Lau.
Then I installed the new Aqvox switch, connected to the same PSU Kenneth Lau.
Right away, there is a noticeable decrease in "digital stress".
The masses of violins in an orchestra in the sharpest registers, which are almost always problematic because of their tendency to sound a little unpleasant, are softened without losing any definition.
The bass is a little more pronounced and controlled. It increases the "wingspan" of the orchestra and its weight. Well for 400 € a fantastic update.
Now I removed my PSU and put the original switched, which brings the Aqvox and insist that it is the one that is put with the switch. It's this better ......... I'm afraid not. It is much worse than the PSU Kenneth Lau, certainly not. In fact the difference is not from night to day, and considering that it is a PSU that is worth twice as much as the whole Aqvox, and the difference in size and components, is a great source.

Re: fidata audio network component
Good work nonesup, very interesting. So the power supply still makes a difference, which I thought it might. Sounds like this switch is a great upgrade.
In the set up l am proposing we are going to employ a separate quality modem, router, wireless access point and isolator plus the AQVOX switch. I will keep you updated.
I have to thank fellow Audio Shark member mfin for helping me find the other network items. Overall I am expecting a massive improvement. Watch this space.

Re: fidata audio network component
Nonesup, do you mind if I copy your comments over to the other thread?
Are you plugging the AQVOX switch straight into your IP hub?

Re: fidata audio network component
Hi
I have no problem in copying it in another forum, but I would like to wait for tomorrow, because I think my opinion on the Power Supplies, can change. I think I gave a hasty opinion, and I'm going to do a slower listening this afternoon and I'll send my conclusions to the forum.Francisco

Re: fidata audio network component
Hi.
Yesterday after uploading the post of the Aqvox, I kept listening to music and I realized something that I had not taken into account and that today I could verify.
The Music is more dynamic with LPSU ........... yes
The bass is better with LPSU .............................. yes
There is more micro information with LPSU ............. yes
The music is more "natural" with LPSU ............. No.
Now I would like the best of both Power Supplies and can not be, you have to choose.
Probably on non-aggressive recordings I would opt for LPSU otherwise I would not.Francisco

Re: fidata audio network component
AQVOX review.
We are using the standard ps which comes with the switch at this time. I concur with nonesup's findings. Less noise more music. More natural timbre and greater openness.
To use you simply plug a LAN cable into your hub and plug the other end into the switch. And then another LAN cable goes to your equipment, which is fidata in my case.
Aqvox only sell direct at the moment but if there is anybody in the U.K. interested in a demo of the differences between using the AQVOX switch and the IP hub as a switch let me know by PM.
If you are aiming for the highest possible digital audio sound source then you have to have one of these switches.
Next possible upgrade is to use separate router and modem.UK audio dealer for: Mola Mola, Cube Audio, Boenicke, Lumin, Fidata, Sablon, SteinMusic, Ingress www.toetapaudio.com

Re: fidata audio network component
AQVOX are introducing a higher spec switch with better reclocking etc.
I am currently testing out some other power supplies with the switch and will post my findings.UK audio dealer for: Mola Mola, Cube Audio, Boenicke, Lumin, Fidata, Sablon, SteinMusic, Ingress www.toetapaudio.com

Re: fidata audio network component
Alto, thanks for the heads-up about the new AQVOX switch. I have their existing switch which I have not opened yet. I just phoned AQVOX, they confirmed the new switch, price still to be determined. I have asked for the newer model, so my unopened switch will be going back to them as soon as I receive their return paperwork. They said it was quite an improvement over the existing switch. I think they said that their existing switch can be upgraded to the newer spec.

Re: fidata audio network component
Hi Jambo, that’s good that you found out about updates for existing switches. Did they give you a delivery date?
Btw when you get the switch use port one as an input and port eight out. Also use the ground screw on the back to run a ground wire to a grounding point on your equipment or to a grounding box if you have one. This makes a big difference.UK audio dealer for: Mola Mola, Cube Audio, Boenicke, Lumin, Fidata, Sablon, SteinMusic, Ingress www.toetapaudio.com

Re: fidata audio network component
Hi Alto, my return paperwork never turned up. I had to phone them again yesterday - said they’ll send it out today, so hopefully will receive the retun paperwork in a weeks time. They said they still have been tweaking the switch, which hopefully should be finished now. They seem to say the new switch will be launched in two weeks. So I need to return my original switch first before they can send the new one. Hopefully the new one will on the web site in a couple of weeks. Oh, and the price they quoted for the new switch is €800. i.e double the price of the original.

Re: fidata audio network component
Managed to return my switch and they will replace it with the SE version. The new SE version of the switch is on its way to me, has been posted today. Hopefully it’ll arrive here in two weeks. I won’t have any more updates as my system is not up ( will be a few months before its up and running) to know how it sounds in my system, so I’m not going to be of much help. But what I can say is they are shipping the new SE switch, you just pay the diffrence in price. P.S I also ordered the Bybee Signal Enhancer that you recommend a while back, will put it under the switch, it was worth the punt.
