Bricasti M3 vs M21 DAC

Anyone with experience comparing the Bricasti M3 vs the M21 DAC?

I have not compared them directly (A/B), but I own the M21 and almost exclusively use its ladder DAC option, with the other conversion hardware options being delta sigma plus oversampling and DSD. I point this out because the M3 does not include the ladder DAC option. While this may read as an endorsement of the M21 over the M3, I view all Bricasti DACs as exceptional.

I own the M3 and M21. Both are excellent; the M21 is better in all respects as a sigma-delta DAC and also adds the R2R option. That said, the M3 is a great DAC - you aren't getting three times the performance with three times the price. The network rendering option is superb in each DAC and a valuable add-on that makes both a value option in their respective category as you don't need a separate renderer.

We never do get three times the performance for three times the price.:sigh: That would be too much to hope for. But thanks for letting me know the M21 is a step up.

I currently only play music already loaded on my Aurender N20.

I forgot to add - the preamp section in the M21 is really good - all discrete, fully analog. Can replace a separate preamp if you are using only digital sources.
