Classé Delta PRE Stereo Preamplifier and Delta STEREO Power Amplifier Review

I didn't leave "conveniently" leave out "store or showroom." We all agree hearing gear in your own system prior to purchase would be optimum. Getting a dealer to let you borrow gear is another kettle of fish unless you have a very established relationship.

Keep changing the terms.

The predecessor of this pre was/is a terrific piece. Very good reviews by both TAS and Stereophile. The Delta amps I’ve heard with the Kharma DB9S and sound fantastic. Too bad the review Joe posted is anemic and, frankly, incomplete with sound details.

By the Denon and Marantz factory - correct?

At the Denon and Marantz factory, but a special classe team. Design still done in Montreal by the same team. Assembly in Japan. The best kept secrets in audio. Insanely good for the money.

To be fair, not sure you heard your Fyne’s before buying….but I could be wrong.

In store demo is the most realistic today IMO.

You are correct, I did not hear them first, but I was able to return them if they didn't work to my satisfaction. No doubt it was an expensive way to evaluate them, but IIRC, doing it in my own room was the only way I could hear them back then.

Sorry, I do not agree at all. In YOUR store, I agree, but in 90% of the others - no way.

IMO, of course.

It’s a much longer discussion. Local customers, no problem. Out of state loaners, we have seen so much abuse, I could write a novel.

Wow!

I didn't know that it had gotten so bad with long distance prospects.

IMO, they should have been grateful at a minimum.

Is it the distance - yet with contact immediacy - of the internet?

I think so.
