Clarisys Audio at Axpona 2023

Come join us at Axpona 2023 in Chicago! The overwhelming reception of Clarisys Audio at the Florida International Audio Expo has resulted in the demand for Clarisys speakers in three exhibitor rooms, two will be open to the public and one will be a private (“for press only”) room as the electronics vendor will be showing some of their soon-to-be released items.

I wasn’t even planning on going! But that changed after last weekend at the Florida Show.

We will be showing Clarisys Minuet Neo’s in room 352 and 676. I would love to bring the Studio Plus or mighty Auditorium, but the rooms are the typical small hotel rooms. Florian, myself and Mike will be there!

I hope to see everyone at Axpona.

I contacted them since they had the Clarisys brand misspelled in the article title, and showed the Minuet Neo priced at $45K. They promptly corrected both points.

Let me add my name to the growing list of those who were wowed at AXPONA by the Clarisys Minuet Neo speakers. They seemed to offer it all: accuracy, clarity, dynamics, frequency response, imaging, ability to reproduce various types of music, and ease of listening -- and at a very reasonable price for the value they deliver.

My sole concern is their reliability, which remains to be determined. The Apogees were prone to failure; the Magnaplanars are not. Hopefully, they will prove to be much like the Magnaplanars. Given that Clarisys speakers are designed and sold by a Swiss company, with its manufacturing done in Vietnam, the availability of aftermarket support here in the US is an important issue, particularly if a person is looking at a pair of Clarisys speakers as their "end game" purchase.

Despite that personal concern, I must reiterate that these Minuet Neos were simply spectacular, and I wish the company great success.

thank you very much for your reply and great questions!

The Apogees had a single failure point, which was the damping material between the panel and the vertical clamps (glued). After many years this would rot away and come apart, creating vibration noises which could only be solved by removing the panel and installing a new one.

Clarisys does not have this issue, we use piano felt which does not rot or care about temperature changes. The ribbons can also be retensioned by the user without taking the front cover off, as we have a sliding mechanism for the ribbon. On the topic of Magnepan, they actually had a similiar problem where the glue disapeared from the copper wire which glues the circuit onto the mylar. Apart from that the tweeter ribbon is very prone to repeair, hence why they sell the repair kit.

Any problems associated with apogees from 30 years ago are long since replaced, but I’ll let Florián respond to the particulars (see his post above)

As for support, we have a trained tech here in the US who will be able to do work on the minuets and studio plus. Any models above that are worked on personally by Florián and the install team at the customers location. But we really don’t anticipate problems as these things are built to last.

Great to see industry wide recognition to this line of speakers. After spending time listening to three different Clarisys models, I feel they are special, look good and there are no ridiculous power amp requirements.

The Axpona ones are smaller. 2 feet less width and about 2 feet less depth.

Looking at this photo, but not having actual dimensions, I'd estimate the rooms at AXPONA were ~10% narrower (L-R width).
