    Why so little chatter?

Just picked up the Chord Dave and an Ultima 5 amp... pretty darn good performers. Yet its so quiet here, any owners lurking out there?

    Re: Why so little chatter?

My son just picked up a Chord Qutest and loves it. Swapped out the stock wall wart power supply for a Teradak 5v 1a LPS and it took the sound to another level. The stock PS sounded veiled and muddy in comparison. It is also very sensitive to usb cable changes. It needs a minimum of 75-80 hours of break in to sound good.

I read on another forum that a guy who owned a DAVE preferred the sound of the Qutest which has me scratching my head. The Qutest may be one of the best buys for a DAC but it does not sound like a $9K DAC.

Well the Dave is a 12.6K dac... 18K in Canada, I wouldn't put too much thought behind that persons opinion. Glad to hear that you've had a good experience with the qutest

Today I swapped an ifi iPower X power supply for the stock power supply and it made a very noticeable difference. There is a black background. There is more detail and resolution and it was like a veil was lifted from the music. The music seems to be smoother as well on the top end. It is comparable to the Teradak LPS. For $100 it was a great tweak. I am really surprised that Chord does not at least offer an upgraded power supply for the Qutest.
