Chord DAVE + the new Chord Hugo M Scaler. Dual 75ohm BNC connection.

What cables are you demoing with? I upgraded from Ansuz C2’s to Ansuz DTC’s between my Blu2 and Dave and heard an improvement. Of course not enough to justify the difference in cost! I also replaced an Ansuz DTC USB with a DTC BNC between my Aurender N10 and the Blu2. BNC is better.

Just stock BNC for now. Will look into some others later.

Hey Mike, new speakers on hold but very curious about M scaler with the qutest vs. the hugo TT2. Other than 18 watt power capability -any other sonic differences or # of input or output differences that are important. My current Ayre QB-9 DSD is what I want to improve and replace. Lastly have you tried M scaler with any other DACs under 10K that I should consider?

I have not. I really think the M Scaler + DAVE is the way to go. The new Hugo TT2 might be another option.

A couple of tips that may help some folks:

A bad USB Sync between your music server, the Hugo M-Scaler/Blu2 and the dual BNC outputs can cause distortion. Power cycling ALL the equipment (DAVE/Blu2/M-Scaler and Music Server) helps fix the problem.

Also, using DSP functions in Roon with the M Scaler/Blu2 may also cause sync issues (and resulting distortion).

Hope this helps...

Hi,
So how does adding it change the sound of the original DAC? And what setting are your favorite and least favorite? Thank you

There isn’t really much in the way of settings except upsampling rate. So full 705 is my favorite. It has totally transformed the DAVE. Much smoother, more meaty, more analog. Period.

Hey Mike, since you are familiar with both, how would you compare the M Scaler with the Blu2?

Really the same, except the Blu2 you can improve with a proper after market power cord. The M Scaler has a wall wart, so you have to look at ifi or up tone options.

Thanks Mike. I'll keep my BLu2. It actually provides a standalone package with the CD transport.

If you spin CD’s, it’s a great way to go, plus you can add that after market power cord.
I never use an OEM power cord. Never take them out of the box.
An Aurender N10 is my usual source but once in a while I put in a CD and plug headphones into the DAVE Both devices are on stands so it's a self contained stack..
