    Re: A1.5

Today i asked in CH news about A 1.5 and price to upgrade A1 to A 1.5

They told me price of A 1.5 will be about 10% more than A1
and price to upgrade A1 to A1.5 is half price of A 1.5

    Regards

Hello, any one heard the new A1.5? Interested for SQ remarks vs the A1.
    Regards.

    Re: A1.5

I was quite intrested in new CH A1.5, so I phoned CH and asked them about the sound. They said the sound quality has increased over the A1 and is now closer to CH M1.

Also if you have been following the M1.1 red caps upgrade, the new CH A1.5 will already come with the new red caps. CH indicated that it was one of the reasons people were quite impressed with them at HK show.
So if you trust CH words (and I see no reason not to as I’ve had quite a few dealings with them over my CH C1) the performance has increased over the A1.

I also found out that CH A1.5 are only now starting to ship, so dealers/customers will have A1.5 in thier hands shortly and hopefully they’ll provided actual user experience regards any sound quality increase over the A1.

Thank you for the input. Quite useful. Looks like performance of M1.1 for those with system who suffice with 150w/channel.

I have not heard the A1.5 but recently had my CH M1 upgraded to the M1.1 with the "red caps" and if by extrapolation that technology has changed the A1 to the A1.5 I would surmise it would be a very worthwhile purchase. The M1.1 wasn't just an upgrade in my opinion a totally different sounding amp, even better than was already one of the state of the art amps out there.

To answer your question about the A1.5 specs, have a look on the CH web site, the details of the power are posted there.

As to which is better A1.5 mono vs M1.1 stereo, CH said the M1.1 is better sounding than the A1.5, so having a mono pair of A1.5 vs stereo M1.1 will probably make it about the same sound quality. But the M1.1 Stereo is cheaper than A1.5 monos, so my feeling is that it would be better to initially go with M1.1 stereo, that way it will allow you an upgrade path later if you want to go mono route, later you can add another M1.1 to increase the sound further.

But honestly the A1.5 is so new that not many dealers/people will any experience or exposure to it. If you want the answer straight away, your best bet is to phone CH directly and ask them this very question as they are probably the only people who could answer your question right now. If wait a little longer once A1.5 have been out then dealers/people should be able to answer your question.

    I meant A1.5 sorry.
Yes i also think starting with M1.1 stereo is the way to go.
I don't think i will ever need a second M1.1 for my speakers.

    1x700w/1ohm
    2x 150W / 8Ω, 2x 275W / 4Ω, 2x 450W / 2Ω in stereo and bi-amp modes
    1x 275W / 4Ω, 1x 450W / 2Ω, 1x 700W / 1Ω in monaural mode

275w/4ohm for mono config is not worth it IMO.
One M1.1 stereo is the way better.

    Sorry i didn't see it's 1x275/4ohm.
Therefore in mono it should be 550w/4ohm that's much better!!

    Re: A1.5

I don’t think so, the specs are directly from CH web site, the figures were given in mono mode so it 275w. The figures are the same for stereo, but you’ll see that they don’t quote a 1ohm figure in stereo mode, while they do for mono mode. So I don’t think it’s 550w, it’s 275w, but check with CH.

You have been asking Quite a questions on different forums, can I strongly recommend you phone up CH directly - that way all your questions will be answered and as fully as possible and not be prone to mistakes and misunderstandings. You live in France and there is only a little time difference between your two countries. If I can phone up CH from Australia given the 10 odd hours time difference, it should be easy for you. If I want to know anything I just phone CH or if it can wait - I send them an email, they are very helpful.

Jambo thanks, i have already exchanged with Florian early october and he gave me the price for A1.5s monos.
Considering the price difference with M1.1 stereo, the M stereo is more attractive.
Not many of us will need 1 ohm load capability, my speakers don't drop under 2.4 ohms.
