Would like some recommendations on a MC cartridge to replace my long in the tooth Lyra Helikon Stereo. The Helikon still sounds fantastic to me but it's over 10 years old and I feel it's time for an upgrade.

So far my list is short. What's intrigued me so far are the Ortofon Cadenza Black and Bronze cartridges. I have not listened to either of them but read some nice things about them.

I would like to keep my budget in the $2,000-$2,500 range. I know the Cadenza Black is a bit higher. (You know how budgets go):D

My analog front end is the VPI HR-X turntable and VPI 12.7 tonearm.

Thanks in advance!!

Recently I got an AMG Teatro with my TT.

It is quite nice and full sounding, but with great detail retrieval as well. And it fits the price bracket. Performance-wise it might be somewhere in the Cadenza Black range.

Specs are impressive: Boron cantilever, titanium body, neodymium double magnets, 0,4mV output.

Next up in the price range are Ortofon Winfield Ti and Benz Micro Gullwing (my new cart).

But it depends really what you are looking for, dynamics, transparency, details, timbres with a warmish sound etc. Should be pretty much based on your musical preferences.

I sure do like the look.

What I like most is a black background. (Nice and quiet) Then I say dynamics, soundstage, depth, transparency, details. I mostly listen to Classic Rock, Blues, with some Jazz and Classical.

Thanks.
