Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
Kev...Part why I go for Nokia Lumia for the smartphone everyday thingy. Nothing beats a heavy SLR though if you're game enough to pack the glass though.
I pre-ordered today at 10% off RRP. Launch day is mid June. I've seen a couple of preview pics. It's mind blowing like a Hasselblad.

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
Some may argue about a 50+ MP mirrored SLR and that this is just an incremental addition to the full frame range. But there are real innovations here that are currently only available in the expensive medium format category. If Canon can pull this off, it will certainly push flagging SLR sales especially for those that are looking for another body to add to their glass collection. I haven't bought a body since the 5D MkII and apart from the multipoint focus gain in the MkIII, it didn't really offer me that much more.
It it will be very interesting how good this camera will be off the tripod and at higher ISO settings. No doubt the truth will be with the pixel quality and I certainly don't mind pixel hunting.
IMO, more MPS is good provided the digital system can manage it. And from what I have seen, YES!!

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
Landed the 5DSR. I was 70th in line. Had a play today. It's a trickier SLR but boy can it capture detail!
100mm Macro on the stylus tip. Should be awesome.

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
Patience Kev.... Have you even considered the implications of uploading a lossless 51mp jpg? Running further compression through kind of defeats the objective also!

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
Cropped size approx 30% of total full frame image.
Original pic Canon 5DSR, Canon Macro Lens EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM. IS OFF, ISO3200, 1/50, f/2.8. Cropped on camera. No further post processing.
This was a quick spontaneous hand held shot in fully automatic mode which explains the focus point and shallow DoF. Notwithstanding, despite the high pixel count, this camera evidently works well as a point and shoot.

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
This FF shot was taken on a tripod with the same 100mm Macro Lens with IS OFF approx. 2m away from the subject. There was no other light source except the lamp in the shot.
ISO100, 8s, F29. No post processing. The RAW file is 54.7Mb. This JPG is 11.2Mb. The uploaded JPG is 6.89Mb. (The forum would not accept an 11.2Mb file so this is a lossy representation.) Apologies for the tripod level being out. It was a quick test.

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
Nice shot Steve. I love how natural the photo looks. I can't wait to see more of your captures - especially the non-post processed variety!
Meanwhile, I'm gunna have to find a way to survive with my little Fuji X-20 point n' shoot.

Re: Canon 5DSR Anyone?
George... Yes this camera is all about high resolution at depth. Perfect for architecture and landscapes. It is less forgiving than the 5DMkII & MkIII as a handheld but still very capable at high speed.

The original BD "Dunkirk" has a known defect where the audio cuts out on loud battle scenes. It's been corrected on the 4k version. I've had maybe 1% defective discs out of about 500 or so,...
