Re: Serious Audioquest uppgrade?
What are you wanting to change in your system's sound signature with the change to a (presumably) more expensive cable? Budget?

Re: Serious Audioquest uppgrade?
From what I've read (and own) your "quest" will end with Shunyata Everest + the right Shunyata cables, like Omega, Alpha v2, etc.

Re: Serious Audioquest uppgrade?
I think you'll have to give us some idea of a budget range. For example, Calvin has proposed a $4000 set of speaker cables (Shunyata Alpha v2). While those are undoubtedly fine cables, they may be more than you're willing to spend, or they may be not quite as high-end as you want. It might also be helpful if you could list some of your electronics and speakers, as cables are often produce different results with different gear.

Re: Serious Audioquest uppgrade?
Well, you seem to have a good match there. The more recent high end Klipsch products do better with tube amps like yours. If you want to stay with Audioquest and are willing to spend in the range of the Shunyatas that were mentioned earlier, you might look at the Thunderbird line. They're the lowest model in the "mythical creatures" series, and still use copper strands. I personally don't particularly like silver in my speaker cables, so personally I wouldn't be looking any farther up the line. With Klipsch's occasional tendency to have a bright treble, I'd definitely stay away from silver. Note that the Shunyata Alpha does use some pure silver conductors.
Bottom line, though, is that it's critical to try before you buy in this price range. I've found that as you move higher up the speaker cables lines, there's a greater tendency for the cables to act as a tone control (manufacturers have to do something to justify prices). Auditioning with your own gear is the only way to ensure you're getting what you want.Jeff

Re: Serious Audioquest uppgrade?
I owned Cornwall IVs for the better part of a year up until August when my Avantgardes landed. IMHO the CWIVs don't benefit from bi-wiring. An effective mod is to unscrew the black plate the binding posts are mounted to and connect both (+) pos. ring terminals to one post and both ( - ) neg. to opposite post. You'll remove an extra set of binding posts and the associated jumpers from the signal path. A side benefit is the elimination of another source of hysteresis and unnecessary bifurcation of the signal.
I used 14 awg 'six nines' OFC stranded wire, twisted in 10' pairs. I also run tube amps and I wasn't wanting for any other cables. GLW your journey! CWIVs are really great, I already miss mine.
