Hi

It uses the same AKM DAC's as in the new BDA-3 DAC and a new dedicated CD Drive from Sony. Fully discrete Class A circuits and separate analog and digital power supplies.

Hi

The problem is finding a CD dedicated drive and Phillips discontinued it so we could no longer make the BCD-1. This new Sony drive is a dedicated CD drive and is very smooth whereas the Phillips drive could be a little clunky at times.

Interesting and if you can make to decode all of my SACD's you will have a winner

Hi

No sorry - no SACD as they use different drives than Redbook and have to downsample and reclock the regular CD's. We wanted a dedicated CD drive clocked to 44.1 and 16 bit.

James,
I think is see a USB input on the new player. What is its computer audio capabilities?

Is that some new CD drive design from Sony ?

I was certain they discontinued the CD drives a while back, so I'm nicely suprised thay are still offering them.

Historicly, the Sony CD drives have always been more reliable than Philips ones.

Hi

We have been able to get dedicated laser assemblies from both Sony and Sanyo. The drives are made in for us Switzerland.

Hi James,

Congrats on the new player. I have a BCD 1. Can it be upgraded to the new BCD 3, maybe without changing the drawer?

Hi Ted

No I am sorry the BDA3 is a completely different CD player. It is based on the BDA3 DAC with a CD drive so the BCD-1 can not use those parts.

Hi Folks,

Have a Bryston BCD-3 CD Player connected via Siltech Royal Signature Princess XLR to XLR, Siltech Royal Signature Ruby Mountain II power capable to PS Audio P10 regenerator. Powered by Pass Labs INT-60 with Siltech Royal Signature Ruby Mountains II power cable into PS Audio P10 Regenerator. connected to Wilson Audio Yvette speakers via Siltech Royal Signature Prince spade to spade cables.

With this setup, the BCD-3 Sounds Devine.

This thing sounds great out of the box. Very full soundstage, articulate, pin point, natural, 100% grain free, dead quiet drive, ultra black background, etc. Wonder has it'll sound when fully broken in. How long of play time to fully break in?

Time to enjoy, now. product is A+++

Have a Merry Christmas. 3 sounds better than 1, hands down.
